I'm burning through a lot of charcoal pencils lately.

Tip:  Smooth surface newsprint paper is a lot nicer to draw on than rough surface, as it lets you get sharper lines and smoother gradients with less effort.  However, it's also harder to find in stores, you'll probably have to order pads of it online.
