Uh, that's kind of part of love, spiritually at least.
Yeah, she killed him, but unless you are a true no-life hyper game player you die dozens of times getting to that point. At least.
Now if your experience at 'love' is waving your bravado and boasting and essentially acting like a peacock to try to get some lady to let you f--- her for sexual conquest, that's not really love just animal mating lust. Big place for that also, but it ain't love save the label.
When this game was coming out Anita was in the height of her 'power' so despite it naturally having female characters as heavy protagonists I think her influence blocked some options.
Imagine how complete the game would have been if at the prompt-> "Do you fear me...?"
There was a response, "Actually, I love you..."
And if the player chose that she'd go "I love you too..." then shoot some kind of tendril into him. Black out. Then they are in kind of a biomechanical Eden and she looks more humanoid though still alien and cybernetic. Nothing porno, but they kiss and scene blacks out. Then back to original scene and she goes "I will love you forever. Now, please help free my world."
Sadly that would have probably got it removed from Steam even, surely the consoles and Anita would have screamed "Women as REWARD! Hallp me! Ah've got 10,000 death threats!" etc.

There's a reason why she loos like this:
The term Rusalki (Elsenova's species) is from slavic folklore, where is a water/female spirit. I guess Tom Happ wanted to mix both water and female side. While Elsenova have a eel body type the other rusalki would follow the same pattern with the other lobster and squid bodies.
Personally I don't think give her a human body would be a good idea, I really like the eel-ish body.
