The sky was darkening with each passing hour; the evening of the day was finally beginning to settle in, but it brought a storm on its shoulders. The wind was strong already, and it hadn't started raining, not yet. Thunder could be heard rumbling overhead, and many critters of the woods were scurrying about to take shelter before the storm hit.
Hyena, on the other hand, was laughing as he trotted about, looking more like he was a loping horse or a skipping child as he bounded around, chanting and singing an odd song, one he clearly made up. "Down, down, down with the clear fire. Drown, drown, drown all it seems to inspire! Ahahaha!!"
The one eyed wolf seemed very joyful, but why wouldn't he be? Thunderstorms with strong winds usually brought a lot of destruction and chaos!
His brown coat was shaded from dark to light from top to bottom. His one green orb glanced around as it watched the birds fly for cover, and mice seeking shelter, and the doe race with her fawn to their thickets. Yet still, he laughed, his stub of a tail wiggling happily behind him. "Ahahaha. All most ride the river, the river of death. Lungs collapse as they loose their breath!"
If someone saw him in this state, they would surely think he is mad- but who is to say he isn't?
Alcatraz padded through the woods, listening to the rumbling of distant thunder. He took a deep breath of the wet, heavy air around him. It was quite stormy lately, but he supposed it was the time of year. And the mountains around them often trapped the weather.
As he bounded through the forest he heard a voice on the wind... a singing voice? He frowned thoughtfully. Who could it be? Being as curious as he was, he turned toward the sound. He would be careful and try not to be seen for as he got closer the voice sounded more and more unsettling.
Soon he pushed his head through some bushes, his eyes narrowed as he peered at the strange wolf before him. Straggly, short tail, and a missing eye... this was not a wolf he wanted to deal with usually.... but he was curious, as Alcatraz was, so he stepped out. After all, how bad could he be? Alcatraz was quite large and strong, and confident in his fighting abilities anyway, if it came to that. Hopefully it wouldn't, though. Alcatraz loved storms too. Right there was something they had in common. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. "Excuse me, sir. "
he said to the wolf, "That is an interesting song. Where did you learn it?"
the dark male's sand-baked yellow eyes were collected but not unkind as he watched the male.
Hyena's gaze would fall upon the wolf that showed himself so openly, asking where he had learn such a song. The mad wold couldn't help but laugh at this and spin around in a circle once or twice. "Oh my, oh my, someone just as pestering as a fly."
He laughed and stood straight once more, inhaling the scent of the new comer licking his lips as he did so. "Song song, oh yes yes, you mean my cleaver rhythms..~"
Hyena nodded to himself before he began to walk toward the other wolf. "Do you hear, hear the warns within' them, death- death!"
He cackled another laugh, just as he was within' reach of the loner, he appeared to do another spin, almost like a back flipping notion and he ended up right where he had started once more. "I sing songs I sing myself!"
He nodded, his stub of a tail wiggling still, he was very entertained. "A mad masters masterpieces being death, chaos, discord and dismay!"
A flash of lighting and rumble of thunder seemed to back this crazy wolf up as he chuckled, pacing in place, nodding his head side to side as he did so; his one green orb still staring at the lone wolf across from him.
Alcatraz furrowed his browns as the wolf prowled toward him. Alright... insane.
He decided. He spun in a circle, the lightning sending a wave of thunder through the forest. Alcatraz stared at the loner through the curtains of rain that began to fall. "Yes, the storm is very loud and chaotic... and I suppose it could be deadly if the lightning started a fire."
Alcatraz reasoned, trying to make sense of this wolf. He eyed him wearily. He was never shy about approaching other wolves and seeing what they had to say, but for the first time he was beginning to regret approaching this scruffy wolf. He was planning on leaving pretty soon... he did not expect to gain much from this encounter.
The rain drenched his fur, right to his skin- making his hackles itch and him laugh some more. "Oh yes, yes the red flower! It eats everything in its path leaving a deadly aftermath!"
Hyena cued as he shook his pelt out a couple of times, though it would help with the rain still coming down. "But water is also deadly, it can wash away the blood and scent of fresh kills and death; it aids assassins and kills true motives!"
Oh how much truth was behind his words, but to must it seemed like nonsense for he danced around as he spoke half of the time. "It steals breath too, leaving nothing but darkness, crushing your body the further you go down...Ehehehehe..!~"
Hyena snapped at a few of the rain droplets, licking his maw after he did so and then gazed at the other wolf. "What do you call yourself, wolf so curious, what is your title?"
He asked, his singing voice had died down some, his voice more mellowed.
Alcatraz nodded, listening to him. Red flower... he could see how fire could be seen as that. It was quite beautiful. He liked the name, actually. Red flower made fire seem beautiful yet deadly. It described it well.
Water deadly, yes, Alcatraz supposed, but surely not in rain. Aiding in assassination? He could not help but glance briefly behind him. Hyena had yet another point... it was hard to hear or smell someone else around in rain as hard as this.
He looked evenly at the wolf as he asked his name. His voice seemed a little calmer now. A little... less creepy. But that didn't mean Alcatraz was at all comfortable around the other male. "Alcatraz."
he said, raising his voice to be heard over the rain. "How about your title?"
he questioned. "Alcatraz hm.. Strange Bird.. Indeed.. Indeed!"
Hyena nodded his head at him in greeting before he would turn violently on his own flank and chew at his rear. <b."Vial fleas!"</b> He would bark before chuckling and answering Alcatraz's question. "I have many names, many many indeed; Vulture, Discord, Shadow, Death, Chaos- must just call me Hyena though.."
He smiled showing all of his fangs before breaking out into laughter once more. <b."Oh how fun, how fun this land should be!"</b> He chimed, more so to himself then the other wolf in his presence.
Alcatraz's tail swayed as the other wolf spoke of his namesake. He never understood why he was called that... but he was slightly offended when he learned. Still, he supposed it suited him. He was quite strange, and as much of a drifter as a bird on the wind. He took a step back as the wolf mentioned he had fleas. Alcatraz did not want to gain those from the male."Hyena."
he echoed, nodding. The name suited him. In fact, all of those names suited him. "Yes, it is a good land. Lots of company."
he said. "So what has earned you such menacing nicknames?"
Hyena bared a grin that would suit only the wildest of imaginations and nightmares as the stranger asked why he had such titles. "Oh my, my my my, they are all part of me, indeed..."
He murmured through his teeth, his tongue sliding out between each set of his pearls chuckling softly. "You see, I am a killer, the devil's hound..~"
He cued happily. It wasn't a life style most wolves liked or enjoyed, but Hyena- he LOVED his life, and how much chaos it brought into other's worlds.
Alcatraz eyed his wearily. A killer, hm? "What is your motivation? A vigilante?" or a psychopath?
he didn't add the second part, but he was beginning to lean toward the latter. Still, this wolf intrigued him. He would like to know more... he had never seen such an oddly behaving wolf before. Was there something wrong with him? Or was he just... like this. "Motivation..?"
Hyena sneered before laughing aloud, almost falling over as he did so, but he regained his composer, chuckling still as he responded. "You don't need motivation for enjoy death, oh no no no, You just need the right mind set and taste for chaos!"
all his pearls shower as he smiled at Alcatraz. Oh yes, Hyena enjoyed the chaos very much so and he enjoyed death that befall others as well; and as much as he, himself fear death, he had avoided it and survived so many times that he basically blocked out the image of him actually beginning able to die out of his mind.
Alcatraz nodded slowly. So... psychopath."
he concluded. "I see."
He did not like such philosophies... death was sad and it hurt others dearly, he knew that for a fact. he wished he could end this wolf now and stop whatever he planned on doing in the future. But he wouldn't dare. You had to be careful with wolves like these. He didn't know if he would be able to beat someone so deeply malicious. So he decided he would try his best to remain peaceful and hope that others can take care of themselves. "I suppose that's true, if that is what you are into."
he said, wondering how many wolves Hyena had killed in his life.
Hyena was still smiling, his head nodding from side to side now as he lifted his front paws back and forth, over and over again, almost as if pacing in place. His tongue would swipe across his lips every now and again as his stub of a tail wagged back and forth. The rain was still soaking him through and through, but he really didn't mind it. "Mmm, you are a strange bird, a strange bird indeed.."
He was more so muttering that to himself than to the wolf across from him.
Alcatraz's tail tip twitched. He was quite easily offended, but technically that is what his name said, so he could not reasonably be angrily about the loner's words. "You are a bit strange yourself, my friend."
Hyena watched him and laughed softly. "Yes, strange I am... But friends we are not.."
His voice had lost the cheery tone it had earlier when he stated that they were not friends. Hyena didn't have any friends; he only had acquaintances, targets, and ghosts.
Alcatraz blinked and dipped his head in acknowledgement. "My friend" was a phrase he put at the end of his sentences often, but rarely did he actually make friends. He did not have a single one at the moment. But he liked it that way. "True."
he said. He looked into the trees to his left, blurry through the pounding rain that threw curtains of water between them, then back at Hyena. "Well, I am sure you have places to be. As do I."
He decided to get out of this area. He did not want to deal with Hyena or any of his crazy plans. And he would be sure to warn others in the area if e saw any, though he had not seen many other wolves around here. He turned and trotted toward the trees, keeping the male in his peripheral vision as he passed.
Hyena watched his head drop and grinned, a weakness learned. When Alcatraz began to trot off, Hyena didn't mind at all; he just began to sing again and dance around in the rain. "Hard it slams disrupting the land, white fire in the sky above lightning it's plan, war drums beat and the storm rages on at the wood's feet."
Alcatraz was only too happy as the wolf's singing disappeared into the thunderous rain as he trotted into the forest. He snorted with laughter to himself once he got out of range, rolling his eyes. He had seen many odd wolves, but that one took the cake. Someone's been in the hot sun a bit too long.
He thought to himself, which he understood since it was a hot summer so far. Although the other wolf was still a bit creepy. He was quite glad to be headed away from him and into the peaceful forest before him.
