Willow was feeling a lot better now since her run in with Ulric; her chest had healed up nicely thanks to a few new friends along the way. Though she will always have a permanently reminder of her encounter with the rabid wolf; she wasn't sad that her flawless body was now scarred right across her chest. In fact, if anything, she was walking a bit more proudly than before, her chest puffed out ever so slightly and her gait almost a constant trot; where ever she seemed to roam.
Lately, she was conflicted, there was a wolf she had seem to become attracted to- she wondered if he knew it or not. There was no way she would be able to be with him though, he was in a pack; and she didn't do packs. Willow's mind was riddled with thoughts and questions; each one unable to be answered unless she want back to the source of those questions; which was back in Chandor.
The weather today was cooler than the past few days of summer, in fact it was only because of the storm was starting to roll in. The cooling breeze it brought was a relief for the creatures of the woods; but for Willow, she seemed to be more alert than usual- she hated storms. She wondered if she would be able to stand her ground one day when a storm came in.. Probably not, and most certainly not today!
Willow was still thankful though, as she ran through the woods- dodging around this and that tree, bounding over fallen debris and large rocks. Her summer coat was in full swing and she felt as light as a feather- especially compared to her winter coat. Today; Willow wasn't even hungry, she was just racing around the woods- not really going anywhere, but not really starting to far from Chandor and Morrow's territory's either, she wasn't close to them, but not far either- as her mind raced and thought out each and ever play or situation that would happen if she did or didn't join a pack.
Alcatraz was headed south. The air was heavy and he wanted to find shelter, so he had headed into the forest hoping to find an abandoned den or somewhere else to take cover. Until the storm got heavy, anyway, then he would not mind whether he was in shelter or not. Alcatraz did not like being damp, but he did enjoy the feeling of a massive downpour soaking through his fur, like a waterfall washing his troubles away. It was strange, but never does this dark wolf feel more free than with the water running off his fur in streams and pounding his face like refreshing drops of ice splashing into his fur.
A loud rustling came to his ears and he froze, narrowing his eyes with his ears forward toward the sound. He was not afraid; Alcatraz was not afraid of anything. But he was still alert. He saw the pale fur of a she-wolf running through the woods. He tilted his head as he watched her, wondering why she was running.... he scented the air curiously, wondering if maybe there was trouble brewing?
Willow wasn't running from anyone; if anything she was running wild along with her thoughts, not really paying attention to where she was going- because of this, she ends up not paying attention to her surroundings as well. She didn't even notice the other wolf observing her, not did she smell him, she was so lost in her thoughts! Suddenly, Willow let out a yelp, she tripped on a rock and went tumbling down a small hill, crashing into the trunk of a tree near the bottom. whimpering, she laid there against the trunk, her back and butt up in the air against the oak tree and her shoulders and head on the ground. She stared at the sky, not in a daze, just somewhat relaxed and still lost in her thoughts, as her tail rested between her legs and over her belly.
Alcatraz watched her. She tripped and he could not help but smirk at her clumsiness. Wolves were so careless lately! She must be a pack wolf. He disliked packs. Not even teaching their young to run anymore...
But concern took over when he saw her disappear over the side of a hill. His sand-baked eyes widened and he raced to the top of the hill, standing at the top and peering over. "Hey, miss! Are you alright?"
he demanded, his voice breathless and concerned as she laid at the base of an oak.
But... she didn't seem to mind at all. She stared up at the sky, looking as content as ever in such an odd position. His concern turned into disdain as he trotted down toward her. "Having fun?"
he growled. He ought to teach her a thing or two... although she didn't smell like a pack wolf that he recognized now that he got closer. Perhaps she was a loner after all. He was impressed she had made it this long on her own.
Willow tilted her head just a bit as she saw the other wolf come down from the will after asking if she was okay. She was fine. Fun?Willow blinked her forest green eyes before rolling over and getting up; shaking out her pelt and then looking at the new comer. So inhaled, taking in the scents, he didn't smell like other wolves, so he must be a loner like her. Her ears pinned back a bit, she hoped he wasn't like the loner who scared her chest. She stood proud though, she didn't want to fight, if it came down to it though... "I apologize, if I startled or worried you, I wasn't paying attention.."
She murmured, she wasn't sure if her recklessness might have scared his food away or even scared him, she had no clue where he was before she ended up on the bottom o the hill. "I was just thinking."
She murmured, stating the truth, the only reason she hadn't been paying attention was because she had been so lost and caught up in her thoughts.
Alcatraz noted the scar she bore on her chest as she stood tall before him. His pale yellow eyes flicked back to her face. She had seen a fight, it appeared. And lived to tell the tale. Perhaps she was tougher than she appeared. He nodded as she explained herself, "Perhaps you may not want to do that... the lands ara not safe for those who are careless.... I'm sure you know a bit about that thought."
his eyes flicked to her chest then back up to meet her forest green gaze. "Thinking? About what?"
he inquired. He wondered if her troubles were anything he should be worried about. "Eh?"
Was all she could say, why should a stranger know about her personal life. Her ears pinning back, as she pawed at the ground a bit before her, softly; a blush burning up her cheeks. "There is no need for you to know about my life!"
Her forest green eyes were clenched shut for a moment before so took into account to what else he had said. "I am not a careless wolf!"
She grumbled as she looked at him. "I just happen to be the target of others for no reason."
Willow let out a huff, almost like she was pouting as she sat back on her hunches and looked away, her tail swishing in annoyance behind her; moving the dirt around beneath it.
Alcatraz did not press her. "Alright, alright."
he said as she said she would not tell him about her personal life. That was true, he should not pry. He assumed, then, that it was nothing he should be concerned about.
He shrugged at her as she said that she was just targeted. "No reason, hm? Why did he attack you, then?"
he knew that the two inquiries did not make sense together. But he wanted more explanation from her about these unreasonable others that were roaming around.
Willow huffed, her hackles twitching, though she wasn't afraid to talk about the subject anymore since she came out on top. "A male tried to make me his mate, and he died."
again, her posture looked like she was pouting. Her ears twitched as she realized how she just said it and she turned to face the male wolf across from her. "I-I didn't kill him!"
She murmured, looking almost guilty. "He died from rabies after attacking me.. " "Hm! Impressive."
he said, flicking is tail. Perhaps she had hidden power beneath that innocent and cutesy exterior. She quickly added that she had not killed him. Alcatraz didn't see why killing him was such a problem; do what you have to do. The mention of rabies made his ears perk. "Rabies, hm? How did he get these rabies, do you know?"
his sand-baked yellow eyes were intense on her now. Rabies was not a disease that he wanted to deal with. It made fighting very tricky; one nip and you were finished. "Yes, he attacked and killed a badger which had the disease.."
She murmured as she looked up at the sky. That loner had been so eager to try and impress her that neither of them had realized it. Willow would have tried to save the male too if he hadn't attempted to force her to become his mate. Snorting at the idea, Willow looked at the other loner; he seemed to be okay.. Not like he was trying to kill her at the moment. "I am Willow, by the way."
Alcatraz nodded, "I see... and you got that scar... before he was infected, right?"
he asked wearily. He didn't want to be dealing with a wolf about to turn on him. He did not want to die like that. He examined her as she said her name, as he often did. He always found names interesting... such a random decision it seemed, but one that stuck with a wolf their entire life. Willow... not bad. He dipped his head. "Alcatraz."
he said. "No.. He attacked me when he had it.. I was lucky he only attacked me with claws and no fangs.."
She murmured, but it still hurt. Her ears perked forward as he stated his name; it was indeed a unique one. Her tail swayed happily, glad to make the acquaintance of yet another lone wolf. "So are you new to these parts?"
She asked, wondering if she could help give him some enlightenment or guidance of the land and packs around them.
He eyed her wearily, "Well... alright."
he said. He supposed she was alright. She seemed kind; he was happy that she was not killed by this disease. It sounded like an awful way to go.
He shrugged. He was a fairly new, but he had met a few of the pack members and loners of the area. "I've been around for a little while."
Willow smiled as she stood up and stretched out. "It is not a bad place, but.."
Her ears flattened as she began to think about the one wolf she was beginning to fall for- should she join his pack? Packs usually end up fighting other packs eventually right? Wouldn't it be dangerous for her to join as well, since she is being hunted by her past? She shook her head as she stood straight once more. "Finding a place of your own is harder than it looks.."
She finished her sentence and smiled softly at the male.
Alcatraz did not know she was talking about being part of a pack, although that may have been applied if he thought about it. He shrugged at her comment. "Every place is my own."
he said. He could hunt, fight, and be completely self-sufficient. He could survive anywhere, and he did just that. He was a traveler and the whole world was his home. He thought that all loners felt that way.
Willow understood where he came from, kind of. She hated being alone; of all things- but being with someone only seemed to bring them danger; that was why she was a lone wolf, wasn't it? After all, if they didn't get hurt, she would; so being a loner was a win win situation, right? Shaking out her pelt she smiled a bit. " Well... it was nice meeting you, Alcatraz."
Alcatraz dipped his dark head to Willow. "It was nice meeting you too. I hope you find what you are looking for."
he said softly. "Thanks.."
The only thing Willow was looking for was answers really, and she needed to find them quickly before something ended up happening. Shaking out her pelt once more in annoyance, she bowed her head a bit before turning around and bounding away; running wild once ore with her thoughts.
Alcatraz watched her turn and bound away. He half-smiled, thinking about how she had tumbled into the tree... he hoped she was more careful now. He turned away, bounding through the undergrowth and headed to the south to see what adventures may lay before him.
