Natasha Alicia Root was born October of 1977 in Monterey County, California USA. By mid adolescence she had moved to Northern California and still resides there with her husband and family.
It was clear early in life that Natasha was destined for a life that included art and imagination. She comes from a self-taught artistic background working with charcoals, oil pastels and clay sculpting.
It wasn't until early 2010 that she turned her attention primarily to photography and all the mini-worlds she found through the lens. It was later that year that she realized her artistic past could overlap and merge with her new attraction to photography. Amazing!
She began creating self-portraits for convenience and the chance to make learning mistakes in private. She has since grown into an artist who enjoys bringing imagination to life for herself and for others. She finds children particularly inspiring as they still see the worlds we all wish we could live in, where the impossible becomes possible, where we remember our wings.
Natasha works to illustrate richly colored imagination within her photographic frame. By using creative editing and applying painterly techniques as well as square format, traditional photographic properties are replaced by otherworldly & surreal elements. Natasha's photography questions reality and brings imagination to life.
