I got home from the gym yesterday evening and decided to check on any new art posted on DA-- and got a notice that the 3-month subscription an incredibly generous DA member gave me when I first joined the community was going to expire soon. I immediately renewed for a full year. I've really enjoyed the DA experience and I'm going to be sticking around. This is a fun community full of fantastic talent and real enthusiasm for art.
So.... here's to another great year on DA...!

It's painful to read this journal - knowing he's gone, and seeing how happy he was here...
But not as painful as the fact that until today, I had no idea who he was, that I let such a great artist escape my notice.

Mike was my kind of artist. His attention to realistic detail juxtaposed with his lively, cartoonish sensabilities made his work a real pleasure to sit and stare at. His particular artistic voice is greatly missed.
And if the personal encounters with him that I've read about are any indication of the type of person he was, I know that he is sorely missed by anyone who knew him.

Reading this sort of makes one realize that you really don't know what life's going to throw at you or even when it's all going to end. It can even happen to the best of people and that makes it even sadder. He was amazing in life and he will be forever remembered even after. Rest in Peace, Mike.

I just reread Tellos and want to say Mike's daily sketchblog inspired me to become a freelance artist and to work in comics.

I don't know this man personally, but just seeing the "here's to another great year on DA" part is truly upsetting.
