Polymer Clay: What is it? and who is using it?
It seems there has been a recent explosion in DA users who are now using polymer clay as a medium for their deviations. To help out curious users who might be interested in what this medium is, how it works, or where they can get it I thought a NEWS article should be made. I shall also showcase some deviations made with polymer clay. The data below is compiled from HanaClayWorks (https://www.deviantart.com/hanaclayworks) polymer clay FAQ and my own FAQ :bulletred: What is polymer clay? -Polymer clay is actually not clay at all. It is a form of plastic. (Specifically fine particles of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) suspended in plasticizer) The only reason it is called "clay" is beca

How to Commission an Artist
I've been commissioning artists for a little over two years now, starting with site money on GaiaOnline and moving to dA from there.  One thing that's hard for me to ignore is the number of artists who are concerned about being scammed, either because they've gone through that experience before or because the stories and warnings of it happening all the time proliferate.  Commissioners have their own concerns about being scammed by artists.  The simple fact of the matter is that it happens. However, I think a good portion of the problem is that many people who want to commission an artist have no experience doing so, and it's not as easy to

Another year is over and it's time for my annual art feature of works submitted in 2010!
This is both my favorite and the most difficult art feature to make. After
going through thousands and thousands of works you can imagine how hard
it was to pick just some.

Artworks were chosen by different combinations of the following "criteria":
general impression • emotion conveying • meaning of the artwork • pure
awesomeness • idea/concept • originality • complexity • technique •
quality • subject • incredible realism • great style • everything else I
forgot to write

Beautiful, highly skilled artworks to be sure. However so many of these are tributes to commercial texts. THere is a lot of America there. House, Supernatural, Avatar, Pirates of the Carribean, Alice in Wonderlands, Star Wars and the British Story Harry Potter that has been produced in film (And the film characters are depicted) by an American studio.
Of Course, the US has given the world some amazing pieces of work, and many great films, celebrated works of literature, but that's not really the point.
THe point is this art reflects our commercialised world, and even though the art is obviously highly skilled and produced by some terrific artists, it's missing that original quality in many cases.
But THankyou for an interesting collection.

Heheh well, it's hard to resist to not to feature some fanart too of movies/Tv shows/books you like. Also it's hard to resist creating fanart of something you like very much, but I get your point. At least this year I tried to feature no more than 50% of fanart & celebrities. Who knows what will be the next year :)

I agree, and fanart is a wonderful thing. What really bothers me is that the majority of it is inspired by texts that are produced in the US.Either that or anime, at least on DA. Good on you, I enjoyed looking at the great drawings.
