Thank you for inviting me into your lives; its a shame you couldn't clean it up a bit more.
All kidding aside; I want to thank you ALL for being part of my life and helping me indulge this little fantasy. I can't believe I have met so many wonderful people over the years, and as this is my birthday, I thought I'd do some recollecting, and some forecasting.
First, White Owl came into my life several years ago in a long night in the REAL Queen City. With her came a large number of her supporting cast--Lt (now Captain) Winslow; Mr Wickersham, Daisy, Diana and Alex Nikos and a few more. I was a young Fangirl, with a fascination for DC comics and heroine peril--and VERY annoyed at how so many heroines were portrayed as busty women, with bigger boobs than IQ, and no powers to speak of. I met a few people who seemed to "get it" in Yahoo clubs and groups and began role playing a bit--storytelling. I also discovered and fell in love with the character Ultra Woman, and her creater, role player
And I started writing--three or four stories stick in my head from right at the beginning "In the Beginning" and "Mistaken Identity" are both here on dA Several others are on my blogsite (which has gone sadly neglected over the past few years)
I TRIED drawing and while I enjoyed it--I also wasn't very good. But others were, and they were reading my stories. Names like Cytoon, Sugarcoater, and others. They brought both Athena and White Owl to life.
Not only pen and ink, but manips--MsV, CaptainZammo, Black Alchemy and more have done manips of White Owl.
The little counters on dA tell me I've been a member here for 9 years; most of it as a paid member.
What this is adding up to is the big announcement. You see, I am a little fuzzy on the exact dates--but I'm pretty certain White Owl got started sometime between late 1998 and early 1999. Which means, I've been at this 20 years--a LONG time. I've accomplished a lot I wanted to do, and some stuff I'm proudest of, I never even really considered at the beginning--lasting online friendships, International Friendships, and my character interjected into the lives of so many other characters. This birthday made me realize how special White Owl is to so many of you.
Still, 20 years?
No one can do this forever--Unlike my creation, I am getting older.
But I'm not giving up yet.
What I'd like is to Announce, THE OFFICIAL TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF WHITE OWL
For the next year, I want to explore your ideas, my ideas and while not reinvent, possibly redefine what it is that makes White Owl who she is. I hope you'll join me in the journey.
