FROM A GREY DAY TO A BAD MOON RISING
As most of the interesting places are closed at night is not so easy to get some good night shots, so here are some tips and tricks
Choose a gray day to shoot as I did here on the roof of the Cathedral Notre Dame de Paris
Sunlight makes much contrasted shades that are no good for night scenes transformation
I changed the sky for a cloudier one, lower the saturation and adjust with levels
Use the clone stamp tool to erase the unwanted elements like the cameras and other stuff you don't want on your picture.
Use the burn tool especially in shadow position( 15 opacity and stroke) to burn stone by stone the cathedral and gargoyles until it fits to your vision of the night scene
Use the doge tool to put moonlight reflections on the most obvious parts of the building ‘strength 10 to 15%)
Some stars and a moon and your done no need for HDR or texture just a delicate work with the burn and dodge tool
You can use the Blur tool to blend the building borders in the sky with a radius of 2 to 3 pixels, strength 10 to 15 %
Hope this may be useful for beginners
