Hey there! I'm currently accepting four slots for digital character drawing commissions. All the info can be found here! ---> CLOSED
I won't be reviewing any requests received after Wednesday night (April 13th).

Thanks for the interest!
Lots of great artists have tagged me, it's very inspiring to see those who I've in turn inspired! Here goes my answers :)

  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt
    Since September 1, 2002

  2. What does your username mean?
My internet alias is typically just Magnus, but that's never available on websites. I like werewolves, so I put a 'were' prefix on it!

  3. Describe yourself in three words.
    Excitable. Passionate. Punny.

  4. Are you left or right handed?

  5. What was your first deviation?
I had a brief stint of 'leaving the internet forever', so there is no record of my first deviation anymore!
My oldest deviation not in storage is this one:
Of 2004 - The Weredragon by weremagnus

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create?

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
    Low-polygon 3D modelling

  8. What was your first favourite?
Oh my god, drawing from my best friend in childhood
    Little Magnus by aris

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
Character and environment illustrations. Also monsters.

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
As everyone else states, it's hard only to pick one! This doesn't nearly cover all of 'em
:iconartsammich: :iconthedjib: :icondrkav: :iconchichapie: :iconhodori: :icongreevixor: :icondoingwell: :iconrobbvision: :iconsteph-laberis: :iconcheeks-74:

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?
Oh gosh. Uhmm, probably SamwiseDidier and/or AlexHorley

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
Lots of folks I've met here have become life-long friends!

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art?
Tablet + Photoshop. Non-digital, I like using coloured pencils and ink

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
    My desk I suppose

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
Anytime an artist I really admire favorites or comments on a submission of mine
Also that one April Fool's day when we were all forced to have Twilight icons

Hey everyone! Just wanted to direct your attention to a new Dinosaur themed digital art zine that came out today, organized by :iconversiris: Versiris! It's called The Stomping Grounds and I illustrated a Baryonyx exclusively for this project!

I am not accepting any more badge applicants, thank you!

Hey all! Anthrocon is quickly approaching, and so I'll be taking some badge commissions to complete before the convention, for delivery at the convention. I couldn't think of any badge theme to fit the con theme this year (secret societies? What even?) so I'll be doing...

DIGIFIED BADGES! Let me turn your character into a Digimon!

Laminated w/ Clip! $30 CAD Paypal payment
  •   Magnusmon DIGIFIED Badge by weremagnus
  • Convention delivery only at this time
I'll be queuing up 3 at a time and cycling through as many as I can in the next couple weeks. I don't really want to be doing them until the last minute, so I'll likely stop filling the queue mid-June. I'll be picking at my discretion, not first come-first serve.

Then I implore you to please consider backing the Kickstarter for Armello! It has all these great things and fills the void of anthropomorphic games that always needs to be filled with good quality content (and boy, does this look like quality stuff!)

They only have 10 days left and are just over 76% funded, so they need your help! If the game looks of any interest to you, please please please consider backing it. Let's make this game happen!
Thanks for looking and backing!

Can't wait to see what all these new Digimon being made - goodluck!
Edit: I've gotten really good feedback! I will likely aim to host this in September. Thanks everyone and look for more details in a month or so :)

One million years ago,
I once held a contest for those artists who were inspired to create their own Digimon.
It was very fun, and had both a modest and surprising turnout of participation.

On a few accounts some strangers have asked if I would ever host another contest of that sort,

And so I ask you, folks, if I were to run another Design a Digimon contest -- would you be interested in participating?

When I first ran this contest in late 2005/2006, I offered full illustrations of the winning Digimon, and there were various categories such as Most Unique, Best Illustration, etc etc, runners up and all that.
I think there was also a deviantArt subscription in there. But the stakes would be similar - original art, maybe some Digimon merch? I'd be open to suggestion.

The Digimon that entrants designed were purely of their own accord - there's no theme other than it's gotta be a Digimon.
The voting was left open to the community, I think I did one "Judge's pick" or something but it's otherwise up to the audience and entrants to vote for their favs.

But anyway, if I did something like this again, I'm just gauging interest. I've considered it a couple times. Figured I'd asked, as it was a really fun event to host.
Thanks everyone who left me a birthday message or birthday emotes on my wall, you are all so kind!
I had a really great birthday with my family back home with nice weather and lots of cake and burgers :) And I get to spend mother's day tomorrow with my mom so that's really cool! (I live a province away from my parents so it's really nice to be home for the weekend with them)

Hey everyone! I will be heading down to California in a week and a bit for the CTN Animation Expo!
I don't have a table or anything fancy, I'll just be wandering around enjoying the atmosphere and panels :) Looking forward to it, this will be my second year attending. Really excited to share the same breathing air as Glen Keane for a few days too haha!

Hey everyone, I regret to announce that I'm voluntarily stepping out of the DW-Championship
I don't have enough time in a day to dedicate to all this additional work when I already have a 9-5 full time job where I'm already drawing all day. I have other things I wish to work on as well and I can't justify giving such a big chunk of my free time to a contest like this.

It's been very fun dusting off some of my old original Digimon and inventing new ones, but I won't be able to make the next round's deadline. It has been incredibly demanding for basically 6 illustrations in three weeks and with only two days left I don't think I can make it without pulling some really late nights. Which, again, I don't personally think are worth it merely for a fun contest. It's no longer fun for me if I have to sacrifice much needed sleep.

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know who was hoping for my next entries for the contest. Thanks everyone who's cheered on Magnusmon and I! I might come back and work with these characters later on just for fun. But for now, I'm done with it :)

Hey everyone,
I'll be livestreaming this morning in about 45 minutes (9:45 Pacific time) and explaining how I use Masks in Photoshop with my line work and with colouring. It's one of the most common things I am asked about so I figure I try and explain it! I'll be chatting verbally for once as I go through the steps for setting up masks and why they're so useful when colouring line art. OKAY see you then. I'll make a submission post like usual when the Stream is about to go live.
