Any advice on how to get finer details with oil pastels? I've been using colored pencils to supplement, but can you manage with just pastels?

Thanks for accepting me. I have be using and loving oil pastels for about a year now. This is the first oil pastel community I have found outside of wet canvas and I am really excited!

I have a question for all you pastel users! As a total pastel newbie, I want to try them and start using them, but I don't know what brands are good. Right now for Graphite I use Derwent. If anyone has any general advice I'd love to hear it. Thank you!
As for oil pastel i would recommad Sennelier (both pastels and pastel card! they make a very good combo 
)
