Lady Bane Steampunk Respirator

Starting to get things in order for the Steampunk Festival at the end of this month! Wanted to make something large, but goggles felt so.. uninspired. I might break down and go there, though.. I got an idea while working on this! We'll see.

Steampunk respirator/half face mask.
Layering, antiqued brass, brass mesh, fake plique-a-jour- enamel amongst other things... Was fun to make.

(Victorian Lady Bane, perhaps..? :) )

"Calm down, Doctor! Now's not the time for fear. That comes later."

Interesting concept.  Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the full character study.. as it were.

This is awesome, what you can see most of all is how it's all held together by blood, sweat, and tears. I would imagine that this would be worn by royalty whilst walking the plagued commons or an elite death squadron.

Two questions: does it feel heavy on your face and does it have multiple ties to keep it in place? That seems like it should.

The mask got two strps, one over the head and another at the neck - both of them going rather high so the weight of the getup is taken by the top of the head instead of the nose as it would be otherwise.

That's what I thought after taking a good long look at it, but I wasn't sure. Thank you! Looks gorgeous.
