Commission for Niamhsama from a chapter in her fanfic "Of Gods and Monsters."

Started July 15th, 2006, and finished tonight, September 2nd, 2006. I'm not sure how many hours I spent on it total, but I'd come home from work and try to get in at least a half-hour or an hour (I commute an hour and a half to work each way, so I usually don't get home until 6:30pm-7:30pm). Some of the things I had to really keep in mind were lighting and values between the two characters - which I constantly was going into Photoshop for color-corrections or increasing the deepness of the shadows.

At this point in the story, a pregnant Teles has returned to a very distraught Sesshoumaru, after being away from him for a period of time without word. He's in dislbelief that she's actually sitting there in front of him, and she is very upset to see him in the state that he's in. I am, of course, not doing the story any justice at all with this summarization, so I recommend you go read it!

...What mask is that in the niche to the right?

Beautiful job, weenie. I don't think I ever managed to picture it quite this clearly, but this is exactly how it should look.

ahh...that's a kitsune mask. It doesn't really fit in with the whole inu-theme, I know, but the wall looked very bare before I had started, so I made two little niches. Seeing that it was a library, I started adding some scrolls, but didn't want it to look like a cubby chock-full of paper, so I added the bamboo and then the mask. I figure it can be best explained as a remnant of Inutaisho's either from a previous conquest or given as a guesture of peace between two clans...or something like that ;)

You definitely spent a lot of time on this one, everything is really beautifully detailed and I love the attention to detail. You also captured the emotions in this piece well so that the figures don't look so stiff.

Nice job! You did a very good job of making him look as terrible as Niamh said he did in that chapter
