Hi there, Deviant.
If you've just stumbled upon our page after viewing one of our Deviations, you're probably wondering what kind of strange art collective you've wandered your way into. What, exactly, is a WARG? (You wouldn't believe how often we're asked that question...)
In short, WeARGames is a team of creatively-minded individuals who work together to create Alternate Reality Games and other kinds of transmedia fiction for the enjoyment of our ever-growing community. If you're not familiar with ARGs or transmedia fiction, that might not tell you much.
We think ARGs are pretty much the most engaging, fascinating, and entertaining form of storytelling out there. They incorporate images, text, video, audio, websites, and often real-time interaction with the characters directly. No single piece of traditional media can really give you a comparable experience.
If you are
familiar with ARGs, you may be under the misconception that all ARGs are horror-based. Many are, and many of the biggest and most famous ARGs, which helped to establish the genre, were. But they needn't all be horror, and we have worked quite hard to bring our audience a wide variety of subject matter.
Some of our games, which you'll find relevant works from here on our DeviantArt page, are The Immaterialized Thought Bureau
(a story about secret government agencies that indoctrinate children with psychic powers into becoming supersoldiers), Tungsten
(a post-apocalyptic noir featuring nuclear cults and serial killers), Eschaton Island
(the story of a boy living on an island run by a corrupt pharmaceutical company), and My Dearest Annie
(the story of a man who longs to be reconnected with his deceased wife, and writes her weekly letters). None of those are "horror."
If you'd like to know more about what we do, or if your interest has been piqued and you'd like to try playing one of our games, you can find out more about us at our Patreon
