About my mom KittyThis is Kitty's daughter with an update about Kitty. I do not know how much she has told you about her chronic liver disease that was diagnosed in 2003. Her last liver biopsy in 2006 indicated scarring around the portal of her liver. Over the past year she has been battling a variety of issues due to the disease. Without trying and even though she was eating right she lost almost 100 pounds in 9 months. She weighs less than 100 pounds now. She was admitted to the hospital late last week and has been put in a medically induced coma. Her liver is failing. I cannot share any further details about her condition with you at this time. I do not know if she will be back here but I know she will be if it is possible for her to be in the future. She loves DEVIANT ART and all of her friends here. Please pray. I love my mom. And I need her.
Good evening FreindsMy son is typing for me. I wanted to let you all know that barbara is here, and is getting better. After my second stroke, I have to start all over and learn how to do everything again.

What's wrong with Eclipse...can we fix it?Hey guys
I'm updating this journal to reflect how I'm feeling today. I go up and down with Eclipse, sometimes I feel hopeful and better, other times, I feel like the majority of issues we are bringing up are not being responded to or we are being told will not be addressed...
While Eclipse is certainly looking a lot better than it was a couple of months ago, there are still some major issues (to me) that need to be addressed, and I'm sure it's the same for you guys!
Let me make something clear, starting petitions and debates about how DA should abolish Eclipse or have 2 versions of the website is an absolute waste of your time and energy. Instead, please try focusing your energy on what I'm about to explain.
Feature requests are only going to be put in place if a large number of people request them. This is logical, there's only so much Staff members can do in the short amount of time they have left before they roll out Eclipse for good, and as such they have to prioriti

The Next Phase of DeviantArt EclipseEclipse launched to Beta Testers this past fall and has opened up to hundreds of thousands of deviants since. We continue to learn, develop, and improve the next phase of DeviantArt, and we’re looking forward to launching Eclipse to all of the community. A Glimpse at What We’re Working OnIn addition to the following top-priority areas in Eclipse, we regularly post Change Logs highlighting bug fixes, both big and small. Be sure to watch @team to stay updated, because we occasionally post about upcoming features still in the early stages of ideation, and we love to hear what you have to say. Here’s a glimpse into what we’re working on, but please keep in mind that our timelines for these changes are not yet finalized, and the features are subject to change:Dark and light theme adjustments: We're revisiting the contrast colors used in Eclipse's light and dark themes with an aim to improve readability.Muted tags: The ability to “mute” (or “block”) specific tags in browse and search has been a highly requested feature. We see this as a first step, amongst many, to provide a more personalized DeviantArt experience.Gallery subfolders for Core Members.Search in Favourites and Collections.Additional Custom sections for Core Members.Performance and speed improvements: Certain aspects of Eclipse can be a bit slower to load. This is a known issue, and we’ve already made considerable advances in various areas of the site. As we continue to monitor site performance, we’ll frequently be implementing optimizations.Category pages: Dedicated category pages which will include more specific categories the community has requested in Eclipse. Green pages: Certain pages of DeviantArt have not been uplifted and redesigned with the Eclipse aesthetics. These pages include Forum, Shop, Settings, and several other pages. We will continue to work on giving deviants a more consistent experience.Groups (early phase): We’ve begun early explorations regarding the future of Groups. Since Groups is such an extensive part of DeviantArt, we want them to have the best experience and value to the community. We'll be sharing more as work progresses!Chat (early phase): One of our upcoming goals is to make it easier to connect — in real-time — with your friends, favorite artists, fans, or Groups. We’re working on the early stages of what the future of chatting and communicating will be on DeviantArt.Stats (early phase): We’ve also begun exploring additional stats for your profile and content. Recent Visitors section for Core Members.Deviousness Award section on Profile. What’s Already Been Added To Eclipse We’ve been constantly developing new features and capabilities to Eclipse based on your feedback. Here’s what’s been added:Custom section: Personalize your Profile with the new Custom section. You can showcase a single deviation or multiple, journals, and even GIFs!Spotlight section: Deviants can add up to five Spotlight sections on their Profiles to display their own works or some of their personal faves.Slideshow mode: We’ve implemented a new slideshow mode for Gallery and Favourites sections on your Profile. Decreased size of thumbnails: We decreased thumbnails 75% of their original size.Custom journal cover image: You are now able to upload a cover image for your journal, or select one from your Gallery, instead of it auto-populating the first image featured in the journal.Categories: We’ve made design improvements by making the 3-facet system visible by default, so you’ll always be able to easily select and view the type, content, and category. We are also working on a dedicated page for you to view more categories as well. Strips on the front page: We have redesigned the curated strips that appear on the Browse front page so they’re more identifiable as featured content, rather than part of the browse results. New notification layout: We’ve added two views to Feedback – simple and advanced. Need to view your latest notifications at a glance? Simple view lets you see your most recent comments, replies, mentions, and more for rapid response! Looking to dive deep into your DeviantArt experience and catch up on the community since your last visit? Advanced view is recommended for users who want to see their notifications organized in a stacked and categorized fashion for more in-depth review. Decreased size of notifications: We’ve adjusted and optimized the design of Feedback by lessening padding and decreasing thumbnail sizes. Watch Recommendations: Discover new deviants and art across the site! Based on your personal activity and behavior, we’ll recommend deviants with similar tastes and aesthetics to those you're already watching. Happy watching!Ability to remove comments section on your Profile.Keep Sharing Your Feedback!DeviantArt Eclipse is still a work in progress, so we encourage you to continue exploring Eclipse and submitting feedback! Here’s how to submit feedback:Switch to DeviantArt EclipseHover over your avatarSelect “Give Your Feedback”Thank you for being a part of the thriving and inspiring community, and we look forward to sharing more updates with you all!
30 Days of Pride: Week 3Throughout the month of June, we’re featuring 30 different LGBTQ+ artists here on @team as part of our 30 Days of Pride campaign! For this third week, we spoke with @HJeojeo, @CristianoReina, @inolesco, @Dottea, @Dyemelikeasunset, @LJ-Phillips, and @breeveyten about their art and their experiences as LGBTQ+ artists on DeviantArt. We’re honored to have them as part of this year's celebrations, both through their art and in their own words.Where do you get inspiration from when making your pieces? Have any artists had a big influence on you?@HJeojeo: Before I start a piece, I try to hold onto a clear emotion/mood that I can use as a direction to develop an idea. I try to find appropriate music to help me focus on the needed emotion (sadly by the time I finish a piece, I have listened to the same song on repeat too many times that I no longer feel anything from it ..) An artist who had a huge impact on me and I think is partly the reason why I had continued to pursue art is Nafisah Tung (@Dyemelikeasunset). Growing up I had looked up to them for multiple reasons including: their expressiveness with ideas, their characters and stories, and their openness with sharing their journey of self discovery with sexuality and gender! Their love and fearlessness with learning about themself gave me the confidence to consider who I am!
@CristianoReina: I take inspiration from many many artist like for example @sakimichan, Alexandre Cabanel, @hgjart, and @RuanJia for the realistic styles and various artists like Liana Hee, Elioliart, and Brittney Lee for the children style.
@inolesco: I get a lot of the inspiration for my pieces from the world around me, being surrounded in nature and great people. A lot of my character-driven art is inspired by time spent with my friends and family! I also love to immerse myself in art communities online, so I get to see a ton of amazing art every day. A number of artists I follow inspire me a lot - some that come to mind are Mabel Ye, Molly Mendoza, Amelia Allore, Lyle Lynde, and Rii Abrego, but there are so many more!
@Dottea: My inspiration comes from various forms of media, from various artwork to movies or books, I can't say that it ever comes from one place in particular for when inspiration does find me it comes from all over. I've been inspired by so many different artists with a massive array of styles it's really hard to put them all together!
@Dyemelikeasunset: It's a strange mix between video games and fashion! I grew up loving fighting games, specifically Capcom and the work of Kinu Nishimura was incredibly formative for me. That led me into the King of Fighters franchise, where the characters were a little less exaggerated and more slick and stylish, which kick-started my love of street fashion. Some of my favorite artists nowadays are Kekai Kotaki, Elliot Alfredius, Jemma Salume, and of COURSE Kevin Wada. Some of my favorite fashion design houses are Mary Katrantzou, Versace, Hood By Air, Gareth Puth, and Dolce & Gabbana (though I have a very complicated relationship with their PR).
@LJ-Phillips: I'm primarily a story teller; some of my stories end up as pieces of short fiction, others are better expressed through comics. So when I work on an art piece, it normally relates to a story, even if that story only exists in my imagination.
Currently, my biggest artistic influences include Alex Ross, Simon Bisley, Fiona Staples, Colleen Doran and the early comics of Frank Miller.
@breeveyten: A lot of my inspiration comes from spontaneous bursts of energy! Either from music, movies, nature, or other art. Some artists that have had a big influence on me are, Rumiko Takahashi, Sachin Teng, and Alphonse Mucha. What sort of themes do you enjoy portraying in your art?@HJeojeo: I usually work on commission work, but when I have the wonderful chance to do original works, I love drawing feminine people and ideas. I like to not let femininity be limited. I believe that it can be anything, especially when you go beyond the western definition.
@CristianoReina: In the past, between choosing to be a serial killer and an artist, I had to choose the second. For this reason I love so much to combine love, destruction and death in my illustrations when I'm inspired, but I like to represent princesses and various cute furry animals when I'm bored.
@inolesco: I love the feeling of comfort that I get when I'm with the people I love at the places I love, and I have such a drive to extend that feeling into my art. I like using vibrant color palettes and drawing characters in love with each other, the world, and life itself.
@Dottea: Most people who know/follow my will discover that I am a sucker for fantasy and queer themed art especially, and I like to play around with the era for this as taking one element and putting it into a period not always matched for it is just a lot of fun! I also like to portray a bit of history in my work too.
@Dyemelikeasunset: Obviously I love fashion and character design, but it's also very important to me to portray LGBTQIA+ themes in my art. I had a very complicated relationship with my sexuality growing up (and some days still do), so I also try to find ways to express intimacy in an artistic and safe way, but I'm also learning to let go and dip into straight-up eroticism as well. I basically want to create the kind of content a younger me would have needed when I was scared and confused.
@LJ-Phillips: My artwork tends to be fantasy or horror-orientated. I like to explore same-sex relationships and gender identity within the context of these genres. A lot of my artwork depicts "bears", gay men who are more heavily built than the common male ideal.
@breeveyten: Some common themes I've found myself portraying are: confidence, relationships (both platonic and romantic), and happiness. Is there any advice you’d give to people who are still trying to figure out their sexuality/gender identity?@HJeojeo: Please be patient and kind with yourself. You may identify strongly with one thing and then five years later realize that’s no longer you, and that is okay. You aren’t fickle or shallow for changing. You are not a lier for not completely understanding who you are. It’s okay for your identity to be a big mystery. The more you live and understand what you love, the more you’ll understand who you are. There’s no time limit or end to self-discovery.
@CristianoReina: Guys... we are in 2019. We have only one life, don't waste it. Don't be afraid to come out to your parents and friends because if they don't accept you, that means that they aren't your true friends.
@inolesco: It's not easy to be queer, and it can be really scary when you're first trying to figure it all out, but it's a part of me that I've found a lot of pride and love within. I can promise there's an endless amount of loving and accepting people out there that 100% love you for all that you are. Be unapologetically yourself and great people will come to you. We're in this together.
@Dottea: I find it hard to give generalised advice because everything is so vastly different from person to person in terms of how they feel, how they experience things and what may be going on in their lives. This may be cliche and people surely heard this dozens of times before but the best advice I can give is embrace yourself for who you are! No matter how you identify, how you may or may not be attracted to someone - -all that really matters is that you are able to feel comfortable, confident and at home in who you are. And don't be afraid in things changing over time, your preferences and identity may change and sometimes it's best to just go with the flow.
If I had to label myself I'd say that I'm a gender-fluid pansexual and I don't care about what pronouns I go by, however I tend to not put labels on myself and I find that most freeing. But that's just how it is for me, others may find comfort or kinship in a label and that's perfectly fine.
No matter what, you just gotta do what feels right by you. Seek happiness, and be unafraid.
@Dyemelikeasunset: The most important thing is to take things slowly and gently. This is your identity -- there is no right answer. It's a process, it's a forever conversation with yourself, it's organic. The labels we create and discover are tools to help us, the same way colors are defined and re-defined to help us create art.
@LJ-Phillips: It's difficult to give general advice because everyone has a different support system (or lack of one.) On the practical side, I always stress the need to develop independence and some degree of security (although that's easier said than done.) It's easier (and often safer) to figure yourself out if you don't have depend on others for financial support.
@breeveyten: Don't feel pressured to find a "label" for yourself, and its okay to change and evolve! Take all the time you need to figure out what works for you.
