Well, tried the Surface Pro 3 for almost 3 years now, but couldn't make it work better for me. While it was great for drawing, I didn't have the time to do it consistently or regularly. Most times, when inspiration hits, the SurfacePro 3 was either dead or almost dead battery. Boot-up wasn't a big deal, maybe wait two minutes for time from boot to opening Clip Studio to ready to draw, but that also did cut into the creative mood.
So, now, I allow myself a new device every 3 years or so, so I waited for the new iPad Pro. When I saw these first come out last year, I thought about getting one, but held off. I wanted to give my SP3 another chance. But the same things happened, and could barely get anything done.
I decided to get the 2017 iPad Pro, and spent a week trying to decide on the 10.5" or 12.9" model. Ended up getting the 12.9" model, which does make a difference.
I'm getting a lot of sketching done now. The battery life is great, lasting at least two whole days of on-off sketching. Got Apple Pencil, which works well. Using Procreate and Sketchbook Pro. Being able to leave the apps running, and being able to just turn on the iPad and jump right in, it is an immense difference. Hopefully this isn't just the thing when you get a new device, then get tired of everything again.
