Hello everyone! Today I would like to share with you the lovely features that I picked for June 2014. It was quite difficult to pick only ten pieces, but tough choices were made and these are the pieces that came out on top.  Please go vote for your favorite in this month's feature poll and check out all the artists' hard work and devotion!

flower fairy by cat-o-morphism by cat-o-morphism

A simple piece that makes excellent use of negative space.  It's very to the point, and successful.

Space Circuit Doodle II by jempavia by jempavia

(I decided to feature this before it got a Daily Deviation, I swear!!) Space Circuit Doodle II is full of life and movement.  The transparency of watercolor is used very beautifully here to create many soft intermediate shades that are very pleasing.

II - Ignominia by Sieskja by Sieskja

What was most impressive about this one was the use of the "dreaded bloom" to create dynamic looking mountains and textures in the background.  Way to turn a common "mistake" into a valuable tool! The palette is light, cool, and slightly sterile, and the world and its characters are immersive.

Bind herself by YuToyuba by YuToyuba

The framing of this piece is excellent.  The use of dark negative space around the hand not only creates a bold silhouette for the hand but creates a space of contrast that draws the eye to the strawberry and the text.  The design sense of this one is very strong.

In the Same Universe by aurumaima by aurumaima

This one blends simple abstract shapes with simple cartoons very well.  The emotion and atmosphere is very genuine and bright, and the negative space-shading transparent technique is very well done.

Ancient Ravine. From the forgotten world by AnnaArmona by AnnaArmona

This one similarly crosses abstract, soft painting techniques with landscape painting to create an ethereal yet minimalist environment.  The atmosphere is strong and communicated well.  I find it fun to look at and think about.

A litle drop of light by patriszkarch by patriszkarch

Another one very strong in atmosphere.  I can almost feel the coolness of the rain and the water. Truly, I just like this one.

When I'm 64 by glowinthedarkpain by glowinthedarkpain

The way the horse's expression is captured, the roundness of the ribcage and the overall weight of the figure is excellently captured.  Totally, a very strong painting that overflows with the kindness of the animal portrayed.

Flutter by Si3art by Si3art

The limited color palette used here combined with the unique cross-hatching shading adds a new flare to the genre of watercolor portraiture.

A litre of tears by Menstos by Menstos

'A Litre of Tears' excels in all areas. The limited palette, framing of the girl and the birds, and the use of bright colors at all the focal points creates a really unified piece with a strong atmosphere and really strong emotional communication. It's one that I enjoy very much.

Thanks for looking! Please support the wonderful artists that give their time and love to the group.  And don't forget to vote for your favorite in this month's feature poll!

Here's to another great month of watercolorists
