disclaimer- it was late when I last posted.
You’ve said it yourself- the martians regard humans as insects although they still eat the survivors after conquest
that is the literal events of the book
there is room for multiple reflections and interpretations that have validity beyond imperical one to one comparisons.
there was cultural anxiety at the time in Britain especially over vampirism. one of the most disgusting inhuman things in the minds eye is the British public was used to characterize the aliens.
which has associations of how colonial forces could appear inhuman to the locals.
Emphasis on metaphor and anxiety not a totally literal reflection. I’m not claiming any such actual sanctioned cannibalism.
besides, that reminds me- the eating of humans by the martians could be a reflection of how empire plunders the natural fauna - driving vital creatures in the ecosystem to endangerment if not extinction. I’m not a master of the themes, but it seems more likely that literally comparing humans to mere beasts to be eaten was the inspiration. Unsustainable naive greed.
Not a perfect comparison made by the book, but an impactful way to reflect the colonial devaluing of unique creatures.
May I have a discussion with you? I’m curious about which lore is being violated with what I’m going to call “the Selfless kyber crystals”. Is it Disney‘s lore or EU lore?
I’ve not consumed much Disney and I’m unclear what even their lore is (besides that now kyber crystals are the power source of the weapon now because only force conducting rocks can make a lightsaber )
I viewed some pirated episodes on YT but couldn’t finish. suffice to say I appreciated the flipped dynamic where the girl wants the guy and the guy is standoffish, especially as I’m sure its not accepted for anyone to lust with a machine doll… (maybe he views her as too young to be attracted to aside from being focused on his mission *fanfic material intensifies* )
I kinda wonder however if Yaya’s obsession with her sense of ownership is a nessessity for her to successfully perform and protect her Raishin in arguably one of the most dangerous places on earth where the most deadly automatons with their elite puppeteers are…
especially when he’s pulling brass ball moves like braving his father’s killer like it’s nothing just to give a little token to say “I know you, this is why I’m here, I will get you.”
she’s entertaining to watch and plenty funny and cute (when I’m not taking it too seriously to keep up with the story) I’ve not seen the whole anime so I’m not sure if she ever made this face but I think I like it the most compared to the rest -minus when she’s freaking out about how master Raishin is even conversing with another girl.
come to think of it, I wouldn’t be surprised if her name was “Yumyum” considering how bad she wants him.
”I’m not in the mood to scream it, dis boy mine bish…”
