Below is a synopsis of the life of Badrius from childhood to pitfighter and finally "freedom".
Parents: Galesia and Zafrius / Wife: Tylena / Living Children: Tylenis, Baelora, Zaiem
Deceased children (more than named): Badrus, Saelese, Diamus, Terax, Terene, Zerein.
The early life of Badrius was not the easiest of lives. Born to two slaves, both owned by the warlock Javras. His mother Galesia, also born into a life of slavery knew little else and accepted her role with a placidness that kept her out of trouble. She was a modern built centaur, ears of a humanoid rather than equine; hair worn long and of a lighter blonde, a palomino coat adorned her draft build. His father on the other hand, Zafrius, was not born to this life. A wild type centaur (or so those of city life called them, a proud centaur referred to this look as in the image of their god; what they should look like without the bastardized influence of cityfolk) strong draft build with tall equine ears and a coat of a dark dapple gray with short white hair. The male was forcibly captured. Zafrius had lived a life of freedom and fighting, as custom to his race, up until he was taken down in his thirty second year. Javras had heard tail of the brutal prowess that Zafrius possessed and proudly flaunted in his herds conquest over others. To the centaurs dismay, he took a grievous wound in battle. A leg split open, bone shattered and exposed. His face cut to ribbons, but even then he fought against the restraints placed upon him by the warlock. It was not enough. After the arduous process of healing the centaur, Javras paired him with Galesia. Much of Javras's money came from pitfighting and as such he bred his own stock. He saw too good an opportunity in this pairing. An unhappy one for the two centaurs and a childhood of trauma for the resulting son, Badrius.
Galesia cared for Badrius but did not defend him from the life that stood before him. Some may call her a bad mother, others simply a product of circumstance. That matters not though. Javras of course flaunted Zafrius, a wild male known for his blood lust; the crowds loved him and Zafrius did not disappoint. Few opponents left the arena alive and Javras was all too eager to capitalize on this. As soon as Galesia was proven to be with child, the patrons of the pit were alight with talk of the future; would the child be strong? Another brutal fighter? Perhaps father would fight son? All rumors fanned by the warlock himself. Galesia had a healthy pregnancy, and out popped Badrius. Dapple gray, white hair, humanoid ears; Zafrius was disgusted, an affront to their god. As such, little love came Badrius's way.
The boys training started as soon as he could stand and speak. The lessons were long, and left many a scar. With a father ashamed to even look at him, an absentee mother, and a life of servitude ahead one can only see why Badrius became the pitfighter known as "Badrius the Brutalizer". As a teenager of 15, his first few fights were all wins; to the excitement of the patrons but under scrutiny of Zafrius. Some fights were outright wins, others Badrius had barely scrapped by. His father further beating into Badrius that strength was all that kept him alive. By 16, the day came where Javras pitted father against son. While still formidable, Zafrius had just past his 50th birthday. The fight was long and arduous, father not holding back as he fought his young son. In the end, a lucky hit left Zafrius incapacitated and a scared Badrius to decide his fate. "Give me a warriors death" Zafrius has spat in his sons face, blood leaking from his lips. Badrius's hands trempled as the crowd roared and his fathers eyes bore into him "Do it you fuck abomination! As pitiful as your damn mother", and the spear gripped between white knuckles slammed home, driving up into Zafrius chin and ending the male. A turning point in his life, Badrius's heart hardened.
