Pinups - Hello Mummy!
After a bit of a break, here is today's airbrushed style pinup photo featuring Crystal in this Halloween Mummy themed pinup! This pinup is part of the 'classic simple pinup' series. Going back to the roots of the classic 1940's style pinup often featured in magazines such as Esquire or True Magazine, these minimalistic pinups by George Petty and Vargas featured mainly one thing: the pinup. While the gals could have some props like telephones, household items, etc; these pinups were the classic masterpieces that defined the pinup era. These pinups were the source for thousands of nose art paintings on World War 2 aircraft.

Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Kayla in another homage to Ted Withers's classic 1955 calendar pinup for the month of January. See the original here: goo.gl/TnAUTf
The original poem that accompanies most of Randall's works says:
"Kayla never misses
a poker date
But she always draws
to an inside straight."

Pinups - Orange and Black
It's October... that means it's the start of Halloween pinups! Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Kirsten in this ninth in a series of 'color pinups'. This series looks at the classic styles of artists such as Pearl Frush, Earl Moran, and Peter Driben who often features simplistic pinup artwork with just the pinup girl, possibly a few props, and a very bright colorful background. Light falling on the pinup girl for many of the pinups would come from offscreen somewhere, highlighting parts of the girl. This is a look back at these classic 1950s style of pinup artwork.

Pinups - Miss Camouflage (Bill Randall Tribute)
Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Kayla in another homage to Bill Randall's classic 1959 calendar pinup for the month of October featuring 'Miss Camouflage'. See the original here: goo.gl/v9cVC4
The original poem that accompanies most of Randall's works says:
"They camouflaged our tanks and jeeps,
For that I saw a reason,
But when they covered up Miss Cam-
I have to call it treason!"

Pinups - Hello... General?
Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Brittnee inside an iconic WW2 classic... the Willys Jeep! "Hello? General? I suppose this chariot of green will do for my needs... but does it comes with diamonds?"

Answering a call from the US Army for automobile makers to replace the ageing WW1 vehicles in the face of the upcoming WW2 conflict, two different companies jumped into process. Only 11 days later, bids were received by Willys-Overland Motors, American Bantam, and eventually the Ford Motor Company. Bantam won the contract, but couldn't sustain production need for war and as such Willys and Ford were given the blueprints to develop and improve upon Bantam's design. Each company made their own version of the Bantam design in 1941 and began to produce their own models (Willys making the 'MA': 'M'ilitary model 'A' and Ford making the 'GP': 'G'eneral 'P'urpose). In mid-1941 the government decided to select one of the companies to produce their vehicle in order to standardize production. Willys won the contract after improving upon the earlier model and incorporating the best parts of the Bantam and Ford designs. The resulting vehicle was called the 'MB' (Military model B). When Willys couldn't keep up with the demand, Ford was asked to help produce the MBs which were then called GPW (General Purpose Willys). Willys produced over 360,000 MBs and ford produced over 280,000 GPWs.

I guess I'm still a bit confused, sorry... Like work with the model for something new? These pinups all start from real models that I photograph in a studio.

Thank you mazepla ! Yes, all of these start out as photos taken at a studio with models. They are then taken and modified with photoshop adding in backgrounds, props, etc with some manual digital painting work to achieve the effect.
