Hi, my name is Moti, and I'm fortunate to lead DeviantArt as the CEO.

Though I am not an artist, I am a massive art enthusiast! (I envy so much at all of you creative ppl - hence my username - Wannabby (an artist) :))

The ability to create something out of nothing, to reflect your personality through art, always enchanted me; the ability to zone out and create always seemed like a superpower.

I took my passion for art to the consumer side. Since I was young, I have loved to wander in galleries and museums to find peace and inspiration in artists' creations. I have a unique and warm place for photography, both micro and macro, pop-art, and street art installations.

To me, DeviantArt is a sacred place where creative ppl meet to help and push each other.

(Update March 16 after 4th session) (Update Feb 24 after 3rd session) (Update Feb 16 after 2nd session) I've wanted to do this for so long but never had the chance, time, or guts—a sketching course. A few weeks ago, the perfect opportunity came up, and this time I had no excuses. The timing was right, the setting was ideal—not too intimidating—and it looked structured enough for a beginner like me. So, I jumped in and signed up for a sketching course. The plan - 16 sessions of working on the basics concepts of sketching and drawing. The first few sessions are all going to be about working with charcoal—"a flexible, forgiving material", as our art teacher put it. At first, it felt completely unfamiliar, but once you get into it, I started to appreciate how easily it blends, smudges, and brings depth to a simple sketch. Needless to say, on a daily basis I encounter numerous beautiful deviations and talented creators that make me go "wow". I just saw @vimark in a few paces that instinctively made me smile for a good few seconds - stunning piece of art, homage to Indiana Jones - a movie I love so much

@Wannabby , can you please remind me why I'm even staying on deviantArt?

I've been here for 21 years (22 years this August), and... it's painful at seeing all the AI-slop burying real art by real artists. I'm no longer watching new accounts, because I'm never sure if they're real artists or just new AI-slop composers, and I'm no longer posting art, because it instantly gets buried by the same AI composed stuff that's always similar. And the site no longer feels home, with all of the real artists that have dropped it over the past years over dA's adoption of Eclipse, its constantly changing upload policies, its AI policies, and with my inbox that is constantly filled with scam notices from bot accounts.
