Hi, my name is Moti, and I'm fortunate to lead DeviantArt as the CEO.
Though I am not an artist, I am a massive art enthusiast! (I envy so much at all of you creative ppl - hence my username - Wannabby (an artist) :))
The ability to create something out of nothing, to reflect your personality through art, always enchanted me; the ability to zone out and create always seemed like a superpower.
I took my passion for art to the consumer side. Since I was young, I have loved to wander in galleries and museums to find peace and inspiration in artists' creations. I have a unique and warm place for photography, both micro and macro, pop-art, and street art installations.
To me, DeviantArt is a sacred place where creative ppl meet to help and push each other.

.Some Rules.
🔸 Leave a comment with your favorite artwork!
🔸Please keep your criticism constructive.
🔸Be kind to the other commenters.
🔸Ask me about art trades if you’re interested!
🔸I trade llamas for llamas!
So, the ever elusive and never mentioned CEO of deviantArt (if you still are - why is your name noted nowhere, not on the front page, not on wikipedia...?
Once again I found your page, and once again it's over an ill-thought out, unexpected and badly implemented change: the nuked notes.
Why, oh why did you nuke everybody's notes? Had you not thought about what they contained?
For me it was 22 years of communication. 22 years of messages with fellow deviants, friends, fine artists, skilled people.
22 years of shared history with people I worshipped, gods I walked among... and now sadly departed friends.
22 years of irreplaceable messages - all wiped without warning.
Have you ever wondered why the deviantArt community distrusts its leadership?
Wonder no more.
The damage is done. The thrust is broken. Good luck fixing the backlash.
@kanyiko - we understand how important long-term conversations can be, especially ones with friends, collaborators, and people who mattered to you over the years.
That’s why we built Messages, to replace Notes and Chat, which both ran on outdated infra that fragmented conversations and created reliability issues that couldn’t be fixed.
This upgrade is about long-term stability and scalability rather than maintaining legacy systems that could no longer serve the community well.
The new system provides a single inbox, faster delivery, and strong spam protection, all aimed at giving our users a modern messaging experience that actually works going forward.
Lastly, just to make sure you’re aware, Notes weren’t nuked or deleted and are still available for your record. You can access them through Messages: open the three-dot menu to review your notes or download your full chat history.
I understand, the switch can feel disruptive, especially if you had ongoing chats. But Messages is a foundational product for the future. Take it for a spin; I’m confident you’ll end up liking it.
Thank you!
Love chocolate cake. Thank you for the kind words
I'm in too! Happy belated birthday, and congratulations on your work in this community! ![]()
