Thinking Inside the Box

By wallartist
Maple burl hollow vessel inside the frame of wood that it was made from. The hollow vessel was turned and hollowed while still inside the frame. It sits on top of a similiar piece of wood that it was made from. Both blocks of wood were 6 inchs square by 3 inches thick.

I was wondering how you would have done that without two separate pieces but then I realized you must have turned from the top and bottom in. Very cool, gives me some ideas.

Amazing work! How long did this piece take you to make?

You should think about posting videos of you turning. I would be very interested in watching.
