This bracelet features an 8mm pink topaz firmly set by four 22g 1/8" rings. It holds its stepped shape nicely when worn, and Byzantine is thick enough that the stone is well protected front and back.

This was a lucky and unexpected gem wrap. To firmly hold a stone in place with only woven rings requires persistence, luck and a few mulligans. It's a rare find when I can just plop a stone into a chunk of maille out of curiosity and find it fits perfectly, and I've been wanting to use this topaz for a while now :D

I think this is the first time I've used Byzantine for gem wraps. I'll bet one could do a lot of interesting things with swarovski crystals using this method ;) I recommend 20g 7/64" Byzantine and around 20g 1/8" for a stone of 7-9mm

This is insanely awesome! Probably one of the most creative uses of byzantine that I've ever seen! Personally (and this is just my opinion of course) I would approach the clasp a bit differently, sort of like I have done here [link] (just, you know, not as sloppy lol)
