It's been a loooong time since I added wrote a journal for this page. And honestly, it will probably be a long time until I post another one after this. The reason is two fold.

First, I built and moved into my dream house in the woods over a year ago. This is awesome, except for the fact that i have limited internet access. Now I know that that may sound crazy in today's world but it's true. I don't have access to anything other than internet through my cell phone using a hot spot. That means that it is very hard for me to upload photos and also update journal entries.

The second reason is because of the speed of my life at this point. I am still "doing" art. However I have moved away from photography and more toward functional art. What I mean by this is stuff I use everyday. I've made farmhouse tables, Woodworking benches, a draw knife bench. I often find myself "creating" with a chainsaw. That my be a bench or a home made pole fence for my goats. Oh yeah I have goats now, and ducks and a large garden. I've moved away from having the time to create art that is separate from the life that I'm living.

I have always seen photography as a form of art that divides. What do I mean by this? I mean that the photographer is behind the camera, designing the shot, and separating himself from the art.  What I am doing at this point is living a life that does not allow for the time to create anything separate from what I need. Does this make sense to any of you? Maybe not, but for me it does. Raising animals, small time farming, creating projects out of the actual raw materials growing around me - it's a different kind of art, but still art in my mind.

In short, I'll be back someday, when I circle back toward my camera. Things will change as they always do, and I haven't forgot about this site and all that it means to me.

Long time, no journal.

Over the the past months I've taken a little bit of a break from my camera.
Most of my artistic attention has been on various crafts and woodworking projects, some of which I have posted in my gallery here.

I still pull the camera out from time to time, but rarely am I going out specifically to do a "shoot" of some sort.

Maybe that will change? Who knows. I do know one thing though, I will always be busy creating something, be it a handmade tobacco pipe, an artistic photo, or writing guitar riffs.

What other arts are you guys into that you don't regularly post on DeviantArt?

I just crossed the 100k view mark!

Thank you everyone for taking the time to look through my work.

I know that for some people 100k views is not that big of a deal. Heck, I've seen works of art that have that many views on their own.

However I consider this quite a milestone. For someone who does this just for fun and really wants to share their photos with the world, the idea that 100k eyes have looked at my photos blows my mind.

I'm old enough to remember the internet in it's infancy (I know crazy right). When I was a kid, the idea of sharing my art with anyone other then a few friends did not exist. Now I have people all over the world looking at the pictures I take.

Tjhank you watchers, strangers fav-ers and random photo-gazers. And most of all, thank you DeviantArt for giving me a place to share my ideas and dreams.

Chuck

Take a moment and watch this. It's well worth the three minutes of your time.

The plan was originally to take a break from DA.

I've had a really busy summer so far. I just got back from a vacation in Maine, I've been mountainbiking and hiking all over New Hamphire as well. Oh and I'm also in the process of building a house. I really thought I wouldn't have time for art. Instead I keep finding beautiful pictures to take and am more busy with my photos then ever before.

Expect to see more updates since I can't seem to seperate myself from my camera.

Peace and stay L-Artsy,
- Chuck
