I have always strived for the elusive quality that is perfection in my artwork. I appreciate that this is a hopelessly unattainable goal, yet, I am driven at the beginning each new work to take a step closer, continually learning in the journey to its completion. It is this slightly obsessive quality that imparts an extremely fine finish and detail to all my work. I joyfully revel in vigour and colour but the one quality that is always present is a refined finish.
The Foundation to my skills is grounded in a classical artist’s training with a thorough understanding of shape and form through life studies, and refining draftsman ship skills to master graphite pastel and pen. From this point moving on to acrylics and oils valuing the traditional skills of a portrait artist. I have never felt limited by medium and I also appreciate the freedom that digital media offers which is so essential to a modern designer. I have found that bringing traditional artists skills to digital media has given me a unique perspective and originality when combining the mediums.
