A Dies 640 combat model shette. This pistol has a little wear and tear from it's years of service. Like the Lavess Soso, posted previously, this has a parkerized finish on some of the parts (here the grip, safety, and slide pull only). Dies (pronounced Dees) is one of the most respected weapons manufacturers in the SOL system. They also make sendai and FOIL combat frames. Blown up pencil thumbnail full digital paint conversion. The original thumb is on this sheet of rough concepts [link] it's the top left weapon on the sheet. Photoshop CS3

I'm a huge fan of people making realistic-looking (i.e. plausible, and not silly) fictional guns, and this one certainly fits the bill. It reminds me of something that manga grandmaster Masamune Shirow might have done before he went insane and dedicated his career to hentai. :)

Well done, I love it.

Thank you, those are some kind words indeed :) I'm glad you dug it, there are a pile of other weapon designs if you poke around the gallery ;)

Best!

OK I made a game art out of this design here's the link = [link]

I hope it's OK.. thanks for the inspiration.. =D

Again, damn cool :) The only thing that's different from how I designed it overall (and not your fault as it's not clear in the illustration I posted) is the front barrel configuration. It's a bit bigger and the barrel is flush with the front of the weapon, no rectangular plate it's sitting on. That said, there's nothing wrong with what you did either, still looks pretty interesting and would fit in the Theos setting just fine :)

I'm really happy it inspired you man and you're welcome ;)

Thanks for the crits, it really helps when the concept artist takes a look at the model, haha.. I had a hard time visualizing it from the front and back view since there's no ref, so it looks wrong when viewed in 1st person.

I'll defenitely keep your suggestions in mind next time I model a gun. I really have to pay attention to their anatomy and how they function. This is more of a test run for now, since I'm just getting into prop/environment 3d creation.

thanks a lot for the comments, I really appreciate it. I really love your designs, I hope you don't mind if I model another one in the future, but for sure will let you know ahead of time next time.

Thanks!

Apologies for the delayed reply on this. Very nice man, very cool this inspired you :) I have no problem you did it because you did indeed inform me and noted it's our work. I appreciate that so it's cool you didn't ask first. Overall it's probably best to do so, asking on this kinda stuff, but again you did the professional and courteous thing in letting me know :) Def a fav man :D

What caliber?

To me, the mag says .22 but the barrel says .45

It looks really heavy. but its a sweet design.
VulnePro's avatar
Thanks man :) Indeed it does have a rather heavy look to it but in this stories setting there are a lot of new materials and methods to work with metals that do help with the weight issues. Even so sometimes a weapon manufacturer will still make impractical or imbalanced designs that many will use and grudgingly adapt to the quirks as has happened in real world history. These weapons are used by sendai (bio-mechanical creatures) often enough as well.

ah, well if it's a sendai side arm then theres no need for alarm :P I often forget the future is well... the future.
