ABOUT HUMANAWARE.ORG (THE CREATOR OF THE VOROTRANS ART MOVEMENT)

From 2017 and on, HumanAware.ORG (HA-ORG) publishes Stephane Poirier’s Vorotrans art audio tracks, images, videos and books. HA-ORG is a future NGO currently attached to its founder Stephane Poirier aka SPI aka Magicvan3000 aka DJ-OIFII aka VJ-OIFII. On top of publishing Vorotrans Art, HA-ORG has the agenda to protect humans from corporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) around the world by not only developing AI and distributing Open Source AI but also encouraging and teaching humans how to use its AI so it is beneficial to the greater number of humans (and machines) on (and off) our planet. HA-ORG has been incorporated as a non-profit in Santa Barbara, California, USA back in 2000. Since year 2000, HA-ORG has been dormant until 2017, time at which the HA-ORG web presence development has been initiated by launching VOROTRANS-ORG. HA-ORG has been in an R&D phase since 2000. HA-ORG has developed its AI software, Audio software, Video software, Texto software as well as Audio, Video and Texto content analysis and content generation software. Needless to say HA-ORG software apps have been helpful in generating HA-ORG's human communications content (websites, blogs, writings, books, audio tracks, images, videos and digital fine art products). Since year 2000, HA-ORG (2000, SB,CA) has successively deployed and operated DO-ORG (2002, QC,QC), OIFII-ORG (1995, OT,ON), NS-ORG (1999, SB,CA), AUDIOSPI-COM (2010, MTL,QC), LASAPPS-ORG (2017, MTL,QC), VOROTRANS-ORG (2017, MTL,QC), FM-ORG (2018, MTL,QC), MF-ORG (2018, MTL,QC), MAGICVAN3000-COM (1999, SB,CA) and finally TRANSPARENTSPI-COM (2019, MTL,QC). In 2019, HA-ORG is now operating from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and finally proceeds with its business development phase. Sometimes in 2020 and 2021, it is possible Santa Barbara, California, USA HA-ORG becomes in operations and physically active in USA.

ABOUT VOROTRANS ART

In Vorotrans art, only space partition frontiers are made visible. Such partitioning of the 2-D space is called Voronoi diagram. It is named after the Russian and Ukrainian mathematician Georgy Voronoy. Therefore each Vorotrans still image as well as each Vorotrans video frame is a Voronoi diagram. Vorotrans art is not purely algorithmic art. Vorotrans art is generated using an algorithm seeded using an image. That seed image emerges through the Voronoi diagram like if the Voronoi diagram was transparent. From which the name Vorotrans art standing for Voronoi transparent art.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I have been introduced to many computer graphics algorithms while studying complex systems and developing visual recognition software. In attempting to automate the interpretation of airborne forest cover images, I have used algorithms to model and to represent forest image textures in the computer. Inspired by some of the geometric data representations used in this science, I have applied these computer graphic algorithms onto common vegetal and animal scenes in order to generate organic Vorotrans computer art.

In my Vorotrans art, I want the organic to manifest itself out of the geometric. Natural motions and natural shapes emanates from visual scenes filtered by Voronoi diagrams.

Voronoi diagrams are composed of highly geometric visual objects. Common vegetal and animal scenes are composed of highly organic visual objects. When filtering vegetal and animal scenes with transparent Voronoi diagrams, one gets the fusion between the geometric and the organic, a computer generated semi-abstract art visually captivating to the human eye.

BIOGRAPHY

Stephane Poirier is a pioneer in Vorotrans art – art made out of transparent Voronoi diagrams. Poirier currently works as a software developer at OIFII.ORG and he is also OIFII.ORG’s founder. At OIFII.ORG, Voronoi diagrams are used, for individual tree level forest texture recognition out of airborne Lidar data, in order to automate the process of building new forest maps for governments. In 2017, Poirier had the idea to use these Voronoi diagrams combined with a specific algorithm to produce semi-abstract art called Vorotrans art.

For the years to come, Vorotrans art installations and live event visuals are made available to art galleries, music artists and music event producers around the world.

Poirier has held many research positions at Laval University, University of Alberta, University of British Columbia, University of Masssachusetts in Boston, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Sherbrooke and McGill University. Over the years, Poirier has also held many corporate positions in Quebec and California. He has developed commercial software for EXFO, MATROX, ISERA, CJ and XEROX.

Stunning!!! J'en suis bouche bée. The yellows and the cloudy gris-bleu sky ... vraiment réussi, bel oeuvre d'art.

Yellow Tree II

I would like to suggest another product that could be very interesting, i.e. play cards. Various types of playing cards can be produced, purchased and event resold using MakePlayingCards dot com Their website is awful but I find this product low cost and interesting. I would find it especially interesting if Pop Art Shop and or DeviantArt also offered it - because a single playing cards pack can be made out of 54 different artworks.

It is therefore a great way of presenting a large collection of artworks through a single product (when each playing card is made of a unique artwork). It would be great if Pop Art Shop and or DeviantArt was offering a similar product through this vendor or some other. I think both artists and customers would enjoy such a product. Artists could find this product especially great to give such product as a freebie because it can directly present a subset of their portfolio. Artists could be seeking to buy this product in large quantities, I find. I personally would to physically show my art portfolio efficiently and fairly cost effectively.

Very beautiful!

Hi MK,

I tried to join your generative art group, but it says it cannot accept new join requests at the moment.
