Princess Irulan really was totally wasted on Villanue Dune, she no only not appear in the first movie, but when she now appears the characters seems totally wasted and contradictory, Irulan is a novice Bene Gesserit and never the less they tell her about one of their top secrets of their eugenic program, her emotions are all over the place, feeling sympathy for the Artreides, then indifference, then acting like school girl who crush rejected around Paul, even in the miniseries and Lynch version Irulan was more intelligent and cunning, sure, she loved Paul, but that didn't stop her from being cunning, because she was surrounded by vipers.
