The Warlock by vmcampos The Warlock by vmcampos
This was a very enjoyable image to create. It started off as a sketch on a small sheet of paper (some work-related paper) done with a ball-point pen. I had the sketch in my "To Do" pile for a while (at least a year and a half, probably longer), until I scanned it a few weeks ago. I wanted to try something new. Along the idea of my "Smoker's Remorse" ( [link] ) image, where I used my Wacom to add layers of color, I added layers of tones. I started off with a black canvas, which is the opposite of what I usually do. So I was adding light colors to build up the image, with the original sketch on its own layer in Photoshop. I activated all the dynamic, pressure-sensitive effects for the Brush tool, and selected one of the nice-looking brush shapes. I dialed the opacity to 50% and started laying down strokes. The image built up slowly, but surely.
I left out a few things from the original sketch (a spider web and black cat), and was about to add a column in the background. But after some great advice from Patricia, this is the result. I must say that I really like the result! I could still work on it, but I don't want to stress. It is what it is.

Thank you! The town I live in does this big Christmas festival every weekend in December. One Saturday I took my camera and tripod to the fireworks show and snapped some shots. No manipulation, that is how they turned out.
