Description

This is first shot of my new Night Scenes series (9 pieces).

This was my firs experience with night photography and I must say that was very exciting to walk on the fields and meadows at absolutely darkness.

I absolutely love the foggy look of the city lights in the background. I keep trying to look at other parts of the photo and my eyes are drawn back over and over to that misty little bit of city.

I like how you've composed this shot, the horizon line is nice and low as opposed to right smack in the middle of the shot (and I know from experience how easy it is to just keep framing shots with the horizon in the middle all the time ) I really like the dusty orange/red tones from the artificial lights, they add a really nice pop of color to the scene.

I think what needs the biggest work is the moon. A good rule to go by with shooting the moon is to set your aperature to f/16 (or as close as you can get) and set everything else on your camera around it work with the f/stop. I usually find it's a low iso and a shutter speed of 125 (give or take). With this kind of image you might need to do a composite to get the moon to show up more clearly, because right now it's quite overblown and I think the photo would be even more successful were the moon clearly defined.

Overall a lovely photograph, thanks for sharing!
