I want this to be a fun and relaxed breed, so not a lot of rules here, but a few basic guidelines:
CREATION/OWNERSHIP:
This is a semi-open breed, meaning you MAY create your own standard coloured imports [see here]. Rare imports may only be created by authorized personnel.
Import designs may not be changed without authorization, and the designer MUST be credited on the reference sheet.
Once you own a Vlaander, you own it. It will not reclaim under any circumstances. You can trade, give, or sell to whoever you want for any currency.
BREEDING:
Breeding is at your discretion. Line breeding is discouraged unless the common ancestor is at least 3 generations back (G.grandparents or more) but is not prohibited.
Offspring may be designed by you, but must follow parents genetics and fit breed guidelines (feel free to ask if you need help).
The Vlaander may be crossed with other breeds, but resulting offspring will not be registerable with the Vlaander Horse Registry, with the following exception.
<< exception >>
Vlaanders crossed with foundation breeds*, may be registered as Vlaanders as long as:
- they are at least 50% Vlaander bloodlines,
- fit the breed standard and
- and complete a Vlaander breed inspection with a qualified rating of "Approved" or higher.
[ *foundation breeds: Noriker / Friesian / Haflinger / Lipizzaner / Knabstrupper / Morgan ]
A baroque-style European breed, the Vlaander Horse was developed over centuries as a working horse, with a touch of "flair". The heavier "classic" Vlaander is still beloved in Europe as a stylish carriage and dressage horse with all its original sensibilities, class and usefulness. The "modern" Vlaander is a slightly sportier version of the breed, and while it retains the original qualities, these horses branch out successfully into a variety of competitive disciplines.
