Wow, this is great. "School of Athens" was always a favorite of mine, and you really captured the same classical feeling here. Wonderful job placing your characters, too. Very nice.

oooo so much better! they fit much happier in with the reality of the image and it very much ties in with the way bricks would have looked/been made/laid in those days! Congrats!

I like this! Definetly has a sense of story to it. The whole top especially with the sky background and architecture blends beautifully!

I am thrown a little by the leaves above the columns. They are the only thing that seem to stand apart. Maybe because they are so bright in hue compared to the rest of the plant life? >^-^<

Thanks, hon! I fiddled with those damn leaves for ages. They are actually layers and layers of brushes, so they looks terribly fake. But I sort of like that. Dunno. I think the shoddy bricks in the front distracted everyone, so you're the only person to mention them so far. haha. But now that I've changed the bricks... whoa!

love it lots - great compilation and beautiful placement! However the front bricks (where the dog and the red coated character stand) could use some redoing - it brings the rest of the image into a falsehood, if you bring the texture into focus a bit more/clear it up, it will allow a realistic appearance throughout the whole piece.

I think you should do more of these ^_^ Its great!

Thanks! Your pose was so intriguing. I think it is what gives this piece a slightly ominous feel. "What is she startled by? What's the dog barking at?"

Oh, what fun! Nice job giving me legs and green tights! :giggle: I meant to apologize about the blue jeans in my original photos...

As for the work as a whole, I have to admit that at first I found the multiple different perspectives and light sources very jarring. But on second look, it gives it a kind of otherworldly quality that is somehow quite appealing. I would, however, second the commenters who mentioned the foreground brick pattern as being very odd. The only other thing I would change would be to maybe soften the edges of the individual elements to lose a bit of the "cut and paste" look. Overall, though, I give it a  :)

Off to check out the other cast members' galleries now...

I will find a better "road" stonework.

Oy, working with lots of different stock providers makes for quite a challenge. I did my best to make the figures match, but there's only so much I can do. (Maybe I'll sneak a peek into some Photoshop books today at work and see if there are any decent hints.)

I still have it saved as a pdf, so I can mess around a bit more and see what improvments I can still make. Thanks so much for the thorough commentary! I DO appreciate it so much!

A smashing producion, Sophie! Well done! I know what you mean about not wanting to describe it because it has a "mood" of it's own that is quite captivating (personally it is the perfect match between the sky and the column architecture but I appreciate that others will read more into the persons). Either way, it is a great work! Best regards, Phillip

Yeah I'll agree that it's a concept that emulates one of the old classic oil paintings of a similar style. Whether or not it was intentional, the skewed perspective lines that throw of the spatialization add to that. No matter how contrived, I definately aprove of this piece

I also like the choice of subjects and the way they're all garbed aproprietly.

Keep it up

Thanks! No, the off-kilter perspective was just me working with the available stocks the best I could. But yeah, I was totally thinking "School of Athens" when I came up with the idea of a large scene. Glad you like it!
