So, this has Tobias in the frame initially, as it's a project in my project for the Spinners--End 2d Challenge ( spinners--end.deviantart.com/b… for details)

Well, as usual, I save several versions and if I finish the whole picture, the final product will be different :)

- EDIT : Do you see the face IN the shadow behind him, or not ? I wonder if the contrast is okay and if you can see it.

That's amazing! Wonderful work as always. I love the shadow behind him, showing the man the boy will become. It's gorgeous.

He looks like a typical grumpy teenager :D

I saw the face in the shadow without reading the comment :) But I catch things others sometimes miss. :\

Well, I changed the contrast, it was not so visible before that. Thanks!

Snape is not happy. :D I quite like how his robe looks a bit like a hoodie. :)

I saw the face in the shadow before almost anything else. But the screen on this comp is really bright. I get the same light/dark issue with my own work...the screen on my studio computer would seem to be darker than the one I use to upload now, they always look brighter than I intended.

Anyway, Its a great image I like it alot.

Oh, now that you say it, it appears obvious, since his features and hair are different, but it doesn't look like Tobias, at least not to me. I must admit that I wouldn't have seen the shadow!face unless you'd mentioned it in your notes, but that would have been my fault as a viewer for not giving the pic the attention it deserved... and maybe the fault of my laptop screen as well, since what I see is influenced by the angle it is opened to. :D

No, Tobias is in the bottom corner, sleeping on the couch. The prob with Tobias is that he looks like he has long hair and I should make it shorter and certainly more in view (lazy me). The idea was that teen Snape was looking down at his father from behind and we could see the man, Professor Snape, he would become in his own shadow. The problem is the way I made it, because the shadow is not clear enough and we don't understand it all happens at Spinner's End (lack of details, I guess) and that Tobias is in the corner. And I noticed I don't see anything on another computer, at work. The screen there is darker, when here I see very clearly the face and details - which prevents me from doing it clearer (too much would be too much). Well, finally I still have problems with this one....I think I won't store it again but then we will be settled with a young Snape, period, without the conceptual around...

You know, this piece made me understand that I have certainly a strong contrast on my screen (I can see clearly lighter nuances in dark colors), which implies that my gallery is probably darker to other people than to me. What I see myself when I paint (I paint only on this screen) is not that dark...

LOL- I noticed the face in the shadow, but thought it was a mirror reflection. :XD: Before I finished reading the artist's description, I thought the thing in the right bottom corner was a glimpse of Snape's dad, sitting and reading or something. heh. ^ ^

What a nice sulky teenage Snape. :aww:

Ah, good. In the previous version, no one noticed the face in the shadow - hence the storage. Now it's settled then. Thanks !!!

I've been experimenting. A 5% increase in brightness is enough to see vaguely that there is a face there, but I would not have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out. A 10% increase in brightness is enough to see it without prompting. With no increase in brightness, the shadow is plain dark grey-green without variation.
