Starswirl the Bearded lived a life dedicated to his craft. Cold and alone, but completely unaware of this, he strove to find... something, working harder and harder, but completely missing the point. He knew that alicorn power had something to do with what he was missing and thought that more magic was the key. (Because when doesn't magic solve problems?) His mind twisted, the world around him following. He crafted the alicorn amulet, determined to find that missing piece of himself.
