Looks like my art teacher wants me to share tips about digital art with everyone... Notably how I use paint tool sai. This will be fun... Now just to prepare a WIP that I can use... Hmm... Any suggestions on what I should show? :D

Hmm, well, if your classmates already know about your interest with the Victorian era, maybe you can draw a woman wearing a typical dress of the time :)

I really doubt they do... but they would definitely find out! :XD: I'll probably just draw Estelle or something... LOL

ohgod! If there is one thing I've experienced with teaching people how illustration programs work, it's always that they value the hold shift to draw a straight line function XDDD For some reason it seems to mesmerize people such a thing exists :'D
I guess you should keep it very basic if it's new for anyone, because for people who never used such programs before it is very overwhelming. I guess the main thing you should go for is kind of outlining which functions in Sai to use, and which buttons and menus they can just ignore! + the power of ctrl z of course!

If it's for a more advanced audience that has used illustration programs before, maybe something on how to use brush effects and edit contrast/colours, the fringe and texture function on layers and other layer modes? (and maybe where Sai lacks compared to other programs like photoshop etc?). The rotation functions on Sai are also very valuable, as well as the stabilizer =w=

Those would be my ideas :D

Ahhhh yeaah! The shift to draw straight line function! I'll definitely have to show them that hahahaha :XD: Thank you!

Some of these people have zero digital experience, but are very talented artists none the less. I'll probably go over the clipping tool, some tricks to catching good color, and yes - the ctrl z button! :XD: Perhaps mix that with some lessons on what SAI can do as well, since there are some people who have experience in the class. Also: the stablizer mode :XD:

Thanks again! I appreciate it! <3

you're welcome :D I guess the best lessons are just saying what you don't have to use. sai is relatively simple compared to photoshop, but still I use it a lot and half of the options I've never used in my life XD
If there is people who never used an illustration program, maybe quickly going over layers is very useful as well :3

As far as I know in most programs, yes! At least Sai, the Gimp and I think photoshop too :D (click start of line, hold shift and click at the end of line)

Yeah... in SAI, you just draw a dot on the canvas, then you click shift and click away from the dot. It's a really neat trick! I learned it from one of my skype friends c:
