It's a hard decision for sure XD I personally love all of these types of books! One I forgot to add, but I loved too - was "Books that make you think, yet don't reflect real life events." XD That's probably my top fav type of book tbh
Romantic and dreamy with drama and action. I like a good balance between exploring characters's inner lives and outside action. A story would go slow and sleepy if only inner lives we were talking about, and seeing action only hardly ever catches my heart. Also, who can resist a romance? Dreamy books help us escape reality, and reading is done by many people BECAUSE they want to escape life at least for a while!
Comical and cute sounds like the best second option. Especially because of fairytale part. They are attractive for being so different from life.
Gritty dark themes with humor seem to get pretty popular these days, and I understand the appeal, since people can relate to that part of characters which is the most hurtful, and relating to a victim helps them like the story better. But I'm not a fan of those since they're kinda upsetting.
Dramatic storytelling with fight scenes... I'm a hater of fight scenes no matter how well-written they are. Since fight scenes are mainly descriptions of actions and don't show any inner development of characters.
The mix of everything would probably enrich the story the most, yet that is a big challenge!
That's a very logical answer for all that All of these things that I have listed, have been story styles I love and are interested in. Another style I am interested in, and haven't added, is the books that make you think, yet escape reality. You get entrapped in the world and it's problems, and yet you feel compelled to solve them with the reader in your head - but what's truly magical about that, is that it can make you feel better about your life, and give you the self-esteem to know the world can change.
I'd say that a book I'd be interested in reading, would have all 5 of those elements in one novel. It reads like a fairytale, with dramatic action, dreamy romance, and comical elements between all of the intense fight scenes, AND at the end of the day, makes you think about the world today, while still making it enjoyable. I love a wide variety of books, so therefore I can't help but think: what if novels had a little slice of everything as well?
It is a big challenge! But any good writer, should always take a good challenge to grow themselves. If their book falls apart, it is because they have not taken the liberty of finding ways to piece it back together, and listening to your audience can be a VERY important factor to help repair that!
I'm asking this for a reason ;D I won't say what, but I am asking. Please answer honestly, and give me your best feedback. What do you think is best? Why? Please tell me, it will be VERY helpful for the future
