I love tragedies a lot I'm not the sensitive kind (I'd love to in fact xD), and I cry very rarely, but I love when it's all sad if it's well done; in fact it's much harder for an author to make his/her characters suffer than to make things just go well, so there's a lot of awesome things to do with tragedies, as an author
Hehe well to be honest, I really enjoy tragedies myself! I could argue my life is a tragedy LMAO But that's just a secret I'll keep to myself
Honestly, tragedies are my favorite to write in fiction. I really enjoy the element of bringing the reader to a stronger connection with my characters through making my characters shed a few tears and struggle. I could argue that making my characters suffer is actually the easiest for me... I sometimes overdo the suffering lmao xD
I don't want to seem intrusive, so I'll leave you your secrets In fact in one of my first screenplay writing lessons there were some words of wisdom that exactly match what you're saying it said: "No conflict, no story". True words to me Haha, I tend to make them have it tough a lot too, so I totally understand how you feel plus it seems I also overdo the physical suffering every one of the characters I've drawn so far has at least a scar; just check my gallery if you're interested, and don't check it if you're not Scars are awesome though XD There are some to whom it's really hard to make their characters suffer people's identities as authors are all fascinating
Those words are quite true I think I've heard that somewhere as well.
Oh gosh XD With me, it's more emotional suffering. I love to really mess with their heads and make them totally lose their minds XDDDD Plus I make them get beat up a little If I sound like a masochist, I'm a writer. XD
Sure I can check it out c: You have a rather nice sense of detail, and good shading skills. I can see what you mean with the scars though XD
That's very true xD It's the same for writers who write different genres... you have to wonder if they write the genre they do because they are afraid of beating up their own characters? XD
I am curious to read a story by you now XD I sort of want to see what your writing is like
I'll wait some time before I allow myself to vex you for the sake of frienly teasing, don't worry but I'm afraid the day will come at some point XD
Haha, emotional's always the best characters being okay are dull, they have to be messed up a lot XD I systematically explain mine's internal struggles in the description of the drawings in my gallery now that what I'm doing with them is well defined and clear (explained below)
My favourite books are those written by sadists, so I think there won't be any problem with you XD George Martin FTW (speaking about characters having a tricky time XD) And masochism is as okay as anything else by the way, you don't have to use writing to justify that XD writing helps developing masochism though, I'll give you that
Awww, thanks a lot :3 in fact I developed this style with pens and stark shades like two months ago in utter randomness while drawing (while drawing the old man in profile view actually ), it just turned out this way, and since then I try to work precisely this way because I like the way it looks, it suits my characters pretty well And thanks a lot And yes I like scars XD
It's really interesting in fact and since like six months I've got like an awesome idea which is 100% about what you're saying: I'd love to write a manga someone more skilled than me will draw, and it would tell about a group of friends living together and making their life day after day and all, except that one of the guys is writing a story, and in fact he's writing the manga itself, and the people he lives with are his characters and all, and so it would tell about an author's relationship to his characters, and he could fall in love with one of the girls of the merry group he's part of, and then he makes her die and so she doesn't understand why she has to die and so she cries and so he cries too because he loves her and it would be so awesome and I don't know how I'll call it XD
Haha well here's one project right above, I've got dozens of others, the ultimate one being Tale of a War, which I've been creating and writing for like 7 years now the only thing is, I'm writing it in French, because that's what happens when you're French XD Well... It's like unfairness, tears, really few smiles, really few hope, anger, struggle, questions, messages, and 200+ people wandering all around an universe which is let's say half heroic fantasy, half golden age of piracy (for this precise book at least) XD a lot of stuff
Well okay then lol I searched up vexing and the second definition put as an example "thou shall not vex a stranger" ROFL I guess I'm vexing YOU then
Definitely XD I love a good roller coaster ride LOL
Lmao okay then I don't consider myself a sadist, but I definitely did like reading messed up lit in my youth :'D His works might be appealing to me. It's a sort of writing joke in the community to call yourself a masochist for messing with your characters and killing them off :'D I don't kill them off though... I just mess with their heads and give them PTSD XD
You're very welcome. It turned out pretty nice if you ask me
Wow that sounds like such an awesome roller coaster ride XD I'd totally read that lol It sounds interesting and complex
Dang I really like your book by the sounds of it XD I love the concept! My book has a balance between darkness and humor. I even have some dark humor in there... my favorite type of humor lol. Basically, my book has a princess who ends up being cursed by the king who later has his country destroyed by her... plan backfired
So far so good I daresay you seem to be a really nice person, so I think there is few chance you can vex me, if things keep going the way they did up until now Haha I wonder what kind of young girl you were back then, I'm way too curious but it's really interesting :'3 Haha well see, I'm the one who does write stuff but who isn't even aware of what's going on in the community XD I'm the lonesome one it's not masochism though, it doesn't cause me any suffering to kill a character I do love we all have to die, so if they give their life to a greater fight there's nothing wrong . Yeah I'm not quite a reassuring person XD Oh dear PTSD's really not nice (says the guy who just gave PTSD to a character at chapter 2) XD Awwwww my, thanks a lot :'3 I wish the pictures were better, they lack the impact of the actual pieces. I might replace them one day, if I manage to get a better shot. Haha the story about the guy writing the story? Yes I do like this one a lot too, I thought he could run out on ink at some point, and so all his friends/characters just keep doing their stuff, except he's drawn with ink on the page you hold in your hands, and they're pencil-drawn, with the construction lines still visible. That would rock and yeah there are a lot of questions you can ask about writing, so I thought someone had to ask them, so I try to find the best way to do it, and I'll do it Awww, thanks, it's the work of my life so far, this really means a lot let's say it's about war and human desires/wishes/nature/ambition, that is, war and the human mechanisms of war. And some love/friendship/trust stuff too. That's all. I need to know how to sum it up in a few words . Awww dark humor is pretty daring most of the time I wonder what it may actually look like, I'm curious now Mine's dark. No humor XD
Arghhh I love-hate them! I love anything that really evokes emotion but I am a total wimp and I cry at sad things. I cry at Pixar movies, I cried when one of my favourite Assassin's Creed characters died, I cried writing my own book! But then there's something about a tragic story that can really speak to you.
Also, super late to the party with the comments today!
Awwwww man XD I love tragedies! I really did cry writing the prequel too LOL Especially a certain part with Marcilyn and Estelle... I'm probably going to cry writing the scene between Marcilyn and Yvette too XD IDK why... but I love to cry XD Very true!
Tragedies are just so entertaining (omg that sounded horrible). Let me clarify --- FICTIONAL tragedies!! No real ones, please!!! I agree with the other comments here that they have to be realistic though or else the story falls apart. I've read a few stories that were kind of ridiculous because the author was just trying to pull my tears out XD
Omg I know right?? Fictional Tragedies are the best! (Real ones... not so much xD )
Haha, I tend to overwork tragic elements in my works xD I just love making myself ridiculously sad for some reason... I tend to overuse emotions and such, because I'm a very emotional person, and my own experiences amount for that as well. XD I've been through some pretty unrealistically tragic things in my life (mostly just me being an emotional mess... lol ) so therefore, I find it hard to keep my tragedies realistic xD
Oooo that's a very good point. I'll have to keep that in mind. I sorta think it's slightly unrealistic what happens in the prequel, but I think it could be very real too, since tragedies like that occur in the real world as well, at high amounts. I had to keep in mind the nature of the first book, so I had to keep some elements in that would happen, and poor Estelle is my ultimate victim. xD I do hope it's well written though... I've been struggling to figure out a good way to work the ending...
