As I'm sure you've noticed by now....I absolutely adore dark art! I think the whole reason I've been into Goth and that kind of thing is because I love the idea of finding beauty in the dark and morbid. I know it's not everybody's cup of tea, no. But I can't help but find a dark or melancholy piece as beautiful as any classic landscape or whimsical storybook illustration (and that's not to say I don't love that too occasionally!)
At the risk of rambling about all that, I'd be very interested to see you take on some darker work! And it's always nice to have some variety, don't you think? And I actually think it would suit your style nicely, largely because it's so adorable! Remember some of Mark Ryden's stuff? My favourite piece was always "wound", I love how melancholy is is and disturbing, but his style is also cutesy and it's quite child-like....you wouldn't think it would suit darker themes but it does!
Anyway, that's my little input, I'm going to stop before I talk too much...my comments get so long so quickly
Awwww man, we're in such similar boats then xD I might not be goth myself, but I've always admired the beauty that is found in the darker element and can really respect the lifestyle. Dark art just has that sense of beauty and contemplation that can't be found in the lighter forms. While lighter works of happiness and good tidings are important, it's also important to get into the nitty gritty details of the rough-and-tough of what life stands for, because we can't always hide the corruption of the world, and what nature delivers to us. If that makes sense of course... hahaha I guess you can say, while lighter elements are fun to work with, the darker elements are what really get our brains moving, and get ourselves thinking about the world we live in. While Netheron is full of fun comical scenes, it's also very dark in some aspects. I feel like a healthy balance of both is necessary in a novel.
Awww I'm so glad you feel that way ;u; I'm very surprised by the votes - a lot of people prefer darker conceptual art, which surprises me... because I didn't think that with my cute style, people would be interested in seeing the more darker themed elements from me. Maybe it's because so much of my writing is so dark compared to my art? Lmao xD Ohhh yes, I remember Mark Ryden... his art really does blend well with the darker themes
lol it's okay, I rambled off way more than you lmao xDDD
Yeah, I think you're right, the world needs both, but when it comes to dark art, I think there's a lot more freedom in it for complex themes and ideas. As I always say (hey this is starting to become my motto) variety is great. Besides, there really is so much dark in the world, that is we can't find beauty in some of it, what are we to do? I find myself even in my lighter work going for much heavier subject matters than I've intended, but I guess you write about what means something to you ^.^
As I said, I think it maybe suits you more than you thought! But you do deal with everything you write about really well, so we must just have that much faith in you
Haha, we make a fine pair then xD I've been told I could talk for England xD
I ask this because although 90% of the time doing darker conceptual art makes me uncomfortable and I never post it, I still enjoy doing it. I'm just curious if anyone is interested in seeing some of my darker works Only if I ever get comfortable with it, though.
I don't do it very often... but I do have this concept with Estelle with her role as antagonist that would be fun to work with and finish. I actually really enjoy dark art, even if I don't generally do it myself. But I love cute art too, so seeing my style in a dark matter might be interesting... since it's generally very cute and adorable. I don't know... your thoughts?
Would you be interested in seeing something conceptually darker from me? Or would you rather I stick with what I currently do?
My opinion: I'm fine with working with darker works as long as it doesn't take over my life. I tend to get attached to things easily... darker conceptual art is one of my biggest loves, next to romance and LGBT stuff xD
