The Warmhearted Inventor by Vivyi The Warmhearted Inventor by Vivyi
Meet Marcilyn Locket, inventor and merchant of Henna Tower. She's smart, intelligent, and even has the princess of Netheron, falling heads over heels with her. A genderfluid with preferences for she/her they/them pronouns, she was raised in a country that accepted her for who she was. When she comes to Netheron to work for Princess Estelle, she begins to question her feelings for her new-found friend.

Eventually both Marcilyn and Estelle must come to terms with one fact: they're in love, but the world doesn't want that. Marcilyn has unwanted ties to a dangerous man, and Estelle is her enemy. They both become victims, to a predictament, that brings them closer than apart.

But even if the world tries to tear them apart, Estelle and Marcilyn must come to terms with each other, before the world shatters before them.

Notes:

As always, the first person I draw for my return is Marcilyn Locket. I've found I really like dark backgrounds, as well as pastel-like ones. It seems to suit her.

I think I've FINALLY figured out how to write Marcilyn's gender, as well as her character. It took some very heavy thinking, and an in depth conversation from my nonbinary best friend.

I've also fleshed out her character some more. She had some contradicting points about her character in the story. The last thing I need to do, is learn how Marcilyn presents as gender neutral/agender. If you have any advice on that, and happen to be nonbinary or extremely educated on genders / have a friend or family member who is nonbinary, please feel free to note me or  comment below. I also need to learn the repeating factors of when she switches her gender... which I partially have figured out.

Anyway, I'm going to start watermarking my things from here on out. I haven't forgotten about the results of my poll, I'm currently writing some backstory for Estelle, for you all to read. I still need to fix up my profile, and I'm considering setting up a website and blog for my creations. As somebody who's commented on every single work of my friends, I may not be able to do every single work anymore (my inbox is HUGE) but I'll work on commenting on at least 3 different works per person until I'm up to date, which I really hope is enough. :) I want to spend time commenting on new works from different people, because I want to explore more of the dA community as a whole. :D But I also need more time to create and explore my life in reality.

Anyway, I better let everyone go, before this gets any longer xD

She is looking up like expecting to be praised. :meow:

Dark backgrounds fit her skin and hair color scheme. Impression of chocolate of dark gold.

Haha she definitely does have that "praise me?" look going on XD  I guess this would be her "innocent" look that she would have if she were an underground spy ;D

I see that too! And have taken note of that. Marci does very well with dark backgrounds generally. This one was probably the darkest I've had for quite a while :XD:

AH I LOVE THIS ONE!! The monochrome colour scheme is just so tasteful here, it suits her so well! ✨
(btw, you can totally message me any time you need info on the nonbinary experience - I'm nonbinary myself! I also wouldn't mind being a sensitivity reader for any text you've written where you think it needs a ~Nonbinary Eye~ to check over it and see if it's all A+ :D )

Thank you so much <333 I'm really glad you like this! <3

(Thank you so much aaaaa I would appreciate your help so much! I'm currently re-writing the second version of the prequel for Nanowrimo, but when I'm ready to peer review, I'll contact you as one of my Beta readers, alongside a few other people I had in mind, plus, an additional few others who might be interested.

I won't need beta readers yet, since it's the first draft, but I will let you know when I'm ready! I'm predicting about Winter 2017 - Spring 2018 (As of right now though, I'm happy to PM you with a few questions about the nonbinary / genderfluid experience / I could send you a few documents on Marcilyn's gender in Skype just to make sure I'm going about this the right way) And I'll give you more information in that PM as well. )

Thank you <333 I loved working on the colors! It was originally a little more pastelish, but I thought I'd edit it a bit in photoshop, to bring out the background c:

I'm very glad too! I probably picked one of the most  complex genders to represent lmao xD I've learned so much, especially from the people in my life!

Thank you <33 I've been experimenting in photoshop as well, so you might see some photoshop-inspired works next. I really liked the results, so I might be switching to photoshop soon xD

Ohhh yes, I think so too! I've been researching this for 1+ years now, and it's been so fun! XD

It is! I don't think I've ever used that... it might not be in Elements, which is what I use. Then again I'm usually really simple with my choice of brushes and effects :)
Haha for me it depends on what I'm researching. If I'm into it, I can go for months!

Lmao a few days after that, and I started to simply sample my colors instead xD I don't even use the smudge tool at all, I don't find use for it XP What would you use it for? xD I guess to re-position faces? :')

Same. XD I research LGBT content for months sometimes. It's probably my favorite thing to research :'D I find genders to be interesting to research as well. I've looked into a select handful for my own research.

Marcilyn, one of my favorite characters from you! :D Glad to see you drawing her for your powerful comeback!
And I think it is a great idea to make a website of some sort, but maybe after you have caught up more and etc. ^^
Love the piece you made and am super happy to see you back!!! It is okay if your inbox is huge~ am experiencing the same right now since I have been kinda inactive as well Q.Q
And going back to what you wrote in your description - I think you work wonders with dark backgrounds! Especially when you shine a light onto the characters as if the character is glowing, it just looks so magical and lovely. I have always complimented you on your use of lighting, even if it wasn't intentional for you :D
Anyway, am happy to see you back!!! *hugs* :D

Ahhhhh thank you so much! She's my favorite too as of right now <333 I love her, Estelle and Yvette the most xD

True. I still need to reply to people's art... but I've been rather busy lately as well. I've been going for 2 hour bus rides everyday for appointments. It's so fun xD

Awww hahaha I'm super glad to see you back again though! I've been super inactive the past couple of weeks, and I'm just getting back into gear xD

Awwww thank you so much! I'm really happy that you like my lighting <33 Haha, it's slowly getting more intentional. I think I'm finally figuring out different light sources to use and all xD

:tighthug: Thank you <333 And thanks for the long winded comment! I know it took me 2 days to reply, sorry about that! I just want to make sure I have time to reply to everything LOL XD
