A little hint of what's to come by Vivyi A little hint of what's to come by Vivyi
This picture is actually supposed to be right  side up, but I really loved the angle of this, so it's going to be like this :XD:

This actually will be the style for a future comic project that I'm doing. I can't promise anything now (It's still very heavily WIP) but for the mean time, here is the design for Estelle. I didn't like the last picture I uploaded, so here's something to make up for it :D

I thought this style was perfectly Victorian Gothic. Cute, simple, and yet very appealing (in my opinion). I worked on this through Clip Studio Paint, which could easily become my main because my photoshop REALLY lags with my brush. :XD: Course - configuring / finding the right brush will not be easy, but it's totally do able! But for this style at least, I use the default mapping pen. :D I enjoy it immensely.

There will be more information about the  comic later. I have a sneak peek into some of the development in my stash that I might post today, if anyone's interested. I still don't want to reveal the name of the project, it might be going through a name change... so for now it's known as my "Top Secret Comic Project" I've been working hard though, so you will have a lot to look forward to! I'm going at about it in a different way, and I have some apps and tools that will help me through with it... so I hope to make it happen.

She's so pretty! I like this block colour style you have going and super excited to hear about your comic project! Best of luck with it :D

Also, I am marvelling at Estelle's gown, that must be so many swirly flouncy ruffles! I'm imagining all of these lush velvets and floaty chiffons!

Thank you so much <33 I'm glad you like it! :D Yes, the  comic is pretty fun! I'm planning on continuing it this summer XD

Aaaa thank you! I really love her gown too XD It's based on a few legit Victorian dresses that I've seen online. I loved some of the patterns, so I tried to come up with a similar pattern here! :D

You have such an interesting style of eyes here. They are really "eye-catching" if you'll forgive the small pun. Curious to see where you take this!

Thank you!!! :glomp:

It can be, because there can be so many holes and little areas to fill. That's why I made a conscious decision to vector the entire comic, so I could still have the lineless style, but with cleaner coloring.

I do this all of the time though, and I always do a lineart picture below it, so I base my new base off of that. :D

YAAAY!!! I am so happy that you are excited about it, that's what I hope for :la: And thank you so much!! Victorian gothic is definitely what I'm going for - the story itself has such a victorian gothic feel, that it would be a shame not to replicate it in the style :XD:

Yes! I am in the process of a potential comic series. I cannot reveal a lot about it right now, as I want it to be more of a surprise. I'm currently doing conceptual art for it, but will post more about it, once I start development.

A question: did you post any pages or are you still working on them?

Thank you so much! And it's no problem :) I haven't posted any pages yet, as I'm still in the progress of working on them. I haven't had really much of a chance to even draw or write outside of school, but once the summer hits, I'll definitely be back on track with the comic. Once I get done with the prologue (which is only around 13 pages, and I'm nearly half way there) Then I will begin posting the comic. c: I want to make sure you guys don't have to wait too long for new pages, but I'm at a good pace where I can keep up. :D

Pages generally take me around 4-5 hours to do (including sketch, coloring, and layout) but the most trickest to do, is always the layout, so I usually take a maximum of 2-3 days per comic page, because I have to use colors selectively and wisely and double check anatomy for  sketches. XD But anyway! I hope that answers your question :)

It's great although it is unappealing that it's sideways. I rather just see it right-side up then right-side down. It is painted/drawn simply and that's ok. I'm impressed by how wonderfully you utilized clip studio paint. Estelle? That's a charming, culture-inspired name for an OC. I also am interested in your webcomic. While there's not much yet, I do like the idea of something original as much as I love something fan-inspired.

Cartoony in design but not cringe-worthy. Proportions are good. Hair has a touch of curly, face tells me Estelle is a noble? I'm not familiar yet wit her so I wager a guess. Dress is leveled, balanced, and laced. I love the purples you used here plus her orange hair. The hearts are a cute touch that may or not be related to your character's personality. Victorian Gothic is a great style for your OC. Estelle's dress could use some texture to emphasize the ribbon and patterns. The same could also apply to shading of the hair for distinguishing locks.  Her expression is good. The nose is strange but it works. Estelle's also quite pale. Her blush with a layer of some warm colors would help to make her more lively. That is, unless you're going for a pale ofc.

Overall, this is a marvelous introduction to your OC. At least to me. :D

Aaaah I see. Sorry about that! Everyone has a preference it seems. Mine was just with this angle because it's my current desktop background and the dynamic makes it interesting to me. It's like she's falling in midair or something, and it makes it have that cute atmosphere if you're wondering why I had it at that angle. You can view the original here:  Estelle Mari Violetta Comic Style v2 by Vivyi  If more people are interested, I could definitely upload it! :D

Estelle is a noble, yes. She's a princess, but she also doubles as a "royal inventor" which may be explained a bit in both the comic as well as the short stories :)

Thank you for your constructive feedback! I always love it when people give me it!! I was actually wondering about some of that - the texture on the lower part of the dress, for instance, could afford to have some sort of rose lace texture or something. I will revisit that when I am ready. Also, you are right about the hair. I need at least one more tone to differentiate the curls of her hair - it would probably match the lower dress better as well. Great eye! I will keep that in mind.

As for the nose, that's just in general my style. I have a rather wacky way of drawing noses. x'D And she is a pale OC in general, so I think I will keep her skin color the way it is. I thought her skin color suited the style that I gave her.

Once again!!! Thank you for your critique. I really, REALLY appreciate it. It's not often I get these this day and age!!!

I'm happy that you liked her

You're welcome. ^^ An inventor and princess. How extraordinary. Nothing wrong with a pale OC. I like a variety of OCs.
Thank you, miss for your response. I do my best to be constructive and not unintentionally offend anyone.

Been awhile since I wrote that much. I used to review fanfics like a lot. I've slowed down since starting college again.

You're very welcome my friend  You did just fine. You gave me honest feedback, which was great! If you want me to critique your critique ( :XD: ) , a little note I might say is it might be helpful to have a format sorta like this:

1) Introduction (i.e.: stating that this a critique, this is written solely to help, ect)
2) Positive Feedback (i.e.: You did great on this.... did good on that... )
3) Critique (i.e.: You need to work on this, may need to do that, here's some tips for this... )
4) Positive Feedback (same as above, different detail)
5) Critique (same as above, different detail)
6) Wrap up (usually with positive feedback, or a message saying how good they did, and that you look forward to  seeing more work from them)

If you squish 1 positive thing per critique, then you will have nearly 0 chance of ever offending anybody. I do this a lot with mine as well. :) I'm the sort of person who can handle anything, but if you ever  choose to critique somebody who might be less tolerant, this is a good system to go by.

Hope that helps!

I've recently slowed down slightly as well. College can be  tough!

Thank yooooou Ari  Haha, I'm glad you like the little dots under the eyes!! I was inspired by a Japanese anime artist, who was apart of a Miku art book collab. He was a big inspiration for me  way back when!! Happy to adapt to my own style! :D

Ahhhh yes I remember too XD You mentioned something like that on Skype. Great minds think alike, for sure!
