Description
Almost a month of drawing in my spare time. I started with a pencil and paper sketch, scanned it and did the "inks" in various layers in Sketchbook Pro. The black and white image consisted of three layers: one foreground protagonist, one for the layers of smoke, and one for the dragon. Once I had the black and white settled I swapped to Photoshop Expressions. I flattened the image, set it to multiply, and painted into layers underneath it. The background was a merged combination of gradients and color adjustments, set to lighten/darken/color overlay.
I'm pretty pleased with the final image! There's still room for improvement, but I'm happy with the freedom Sketchbook gives me to convert pencil sketches into finished black and white images.
Oh, and all characters, plots and names referred to here are copyrighted.
