Hey guys, I thought I'd post here asking for some feedback on which project I'm should to dedicate most of my summer to. As some of you know, I'm a programmer who recently helped work on the game 'Rush Bros' which is now available on steam. My next project that I work on I want to be very fleshed out even if that means it will take a lot of time. Right now I need to get some feedback on what I should work on as there's no point in making something no one is going to bother playing.

I have two choices, please read both and tell me what you think about each idea and what I should work on in the comments. I read them. If you have any questions on anything, ask away.

Idea 1: Commando Kid. (PC, Possibly OUYA and Mac)
Commando Kid is a challenging 2D platforming game where you play as an 8-Year old gun wielding girl named Reiko who goes on a mission to rescue hostage army men and women after an evil group has wiped out the nation's resources and threatens to kill everyone that doesn't obey their orders. The story is has more depth than that- and it's a little dark at some points, but I don't want to reveal to much about it right now. The game is takes the 'I wanna be the guy' formula, removes the bull**** (This means no random deaths. The game is challenging and rewarding through tricky jumps and puzzles unlike IWBTG. It has some mechanics from IWBTG, but they are reworked. Just because I mention IWBTG don't think the game is going to be impossibly hard. The game will be around the Super Meat Boy level of difficulty.), and fixes it with fair puzzle elements and new challenges bringing an entirely new play experience. Every aspect of the game will require precise thought from you, the player. For example, some spikes you can trigger to fall then use them as platforms. No spikes will fly at random. The controls in the engine are currently "better and more responsive than Super Meat Boy." - Ian Boswell (From Sega of America / XYLA Entertainment) In a sense, if you **** up, it's your fault-- not the game's. The levels will be designed by me. I have lots of experience in level design and I've gotten advice in the past from multiple people such as Edmund McMillen. Most of the game will be made in a Super Nintendo fashion, done in 16-Bit sprites and it will be reminiscent to classic games like Donkey Kong Country and Super Metroid.

Idea 2: Formula (No set title yet). (Android, PC, Mac, and probably OUYA)
Formula is a 3D skill based F-Zero like racer focused on mobile devices that takes the best pages from F-Zero and Mario Kart DS and slams them into one game. Before I get in detail about the game, think about Mario Kart DS's Multiplayer. I'm sure most of you have sat in a room with other people and played Mario Kart DS head-to-head over DS download play. It's pretty fun and it's a great multiplayer experience. Imagine the same sort of experience but in a more technical, risky field. What I want to accomplish with Formula is a easy-to-learn and hard-to-master mobile game that is fun for all ages. I want it to be a game you can quickly pull out and challenge someone to, then put back down. One problem that many people have with mobile games is their horrid on-screen controls. I will be addressing this problem by letting players have an option for Bluetooth controllers and/or use your phone's gyroscope to steer. One thing I will introduce in the tracks are decision factors. For example, you can choose whether to take the long route with a healing pad or the shorter route with boosts. I want to revive F-Zero's energy bar too. Not only will your energy bar be your health bar and your boost bar, but you can also use the energy to shoot other cars to slow them down similar to how you can 'tag' others in Rayman M. With all these factors the game will be difficult to master, but it will still be a racing game that anyone can pick up on.

As much as I hate chain journals, I'll be featuring my favorite OC of the first 15 people to comment.
If you comment, please do the same in your journal, putting the tagger in the first slot. The idea of this is not to get a free feature, it is to spread art around for everyone and make more people aware of the many cool yet under appreciated characters that exist here on dA!

1. :iconmarraphy:  ART
Shadow the Dark Wolf! I like his style. I like how you can see a lot of his personality through his appearance. The way his mouth (one tooth and a slight grin) and hair are used to express some emotion is awesomely brilliant.
2. :iconvanillastarburst: ART
Serafina! DAT HAIR! I really love how she was designed. Her palette works very well for her. I'm a bit uneven on the double horn thing though.
3. :iconvaatiwithblue: ART Eel! (Eli Esquelet) I'm getting a big Naruto vibe from him (First impressions almost lead me to lead him being female do to his lower figure) even through he's supposed to fit in the Skullgirls universe. He has a pretty detailed back-story and as a character he has some potential with some small reworkings.

Hey everyone, seeing as I just finished a really fun art trade I thought I'd open up some Art Trades/ Requests for others before the school year ends.
Do keep in mind I'll be kinda busy, but I do try to finish things rather quickly. I'll have a few slots below. First come, first serve.

For Art Trades, you can draw one of my characters (feel free to pick!) and I'll drawn one of your's. I will do equal value trades (If you do line art, I'll do line art too).
Send me a note or something showing proof that you can fulfill your half of an art trade before I start drawing (ex: rough sketch of the character). Before accepting your request, I will check your dA and if I don't think any exceptional art is there, I will deny your art trade (That mean no MS Paint Stick Figures.).

So comment away my dear friends with this form:

Character You Want Me to Draw: (OC Humans/OC Anthro Furries/WhatTheFuckIsThatHumanoidLikeThing only please, no ponies/cats/dogs/blah.)
Link to Reference(s): (httupah..wwu)
Kind of Art: (Line Art (Tablet), Colored (Tablet), or Rough Sketch (Pencil))
Portion of Character: (Head only, full body, half body, etc.)

I've had this on my to-do list for awhile so I got it out of the way. I put some not-so-old footage of me playing as Ness in Smash 64 (Super Smash Bros) to music. Enjoy and whatnot, and tell me what you think. I'm getting better that Smash 64 all the time. Right now I'm working on Team battles of Ness (Me) VS 2x Character (CPUs). (Example, Ness VS Two Jiggs, level 9 of course.)

Spread the video around and whatnot, In fact, make your own videos and post them in the comments! If you want to play Smash 64 with me sometime message me here and I'll send you some files so we can.

Now, back to work on Commando Kid!

-------OLD POST :P--------

Hey friends and enemies!
I'm here to inform you all on a quick update on my game, Commando Kid!

After some long discussions, I moved over all the rights of the game to another group of people (G33KB0UND), who will be helping me work on the game. I will be working with them. I'm doing the code, as usual.

Right now, I'm working on coding the base engine for the game. So far, the controls feel perfect and the collisions are pixel-perfect. I'm in search of a 16-Bit (SNES Style) Pixel Artist. If you think you're up for it, comment below or use other means to reach out to me. If you want to help, you'll need to be able to...

>Make 64x64 and 32x32 sprites in a 16-Bit fashion. (Characters, Terrain, and Backgrounds)
>Be able to animate said sprites.
>Be able to be online and reachable constantly.
>Be understanding and contribute to other parts of the project.

I will post more information about the game and it's where abouts periodically to my dA, Twitter, and Facebook, so follow me there for consistent updates, random posts, and various other stuff.

Thanks to all who have supported me and continue to do so!
A MAJOR thank you to...
Ian Boswell, Aidan Watt, Wigget, Cody, Z0NE, Neo-Geo, Zack The Great, Charlie McShane, Troggle, Itty Bit, Kayin Nasaki, and KK Slider!

Hey guys, Violet here with a small request.
My friend Ian Boswell has been designing his game 'Rush Bros' for the past year. It is a Racing / Platforming hybrid which takes your MP3 collection and lets you race along to it in real time. Your music changes the traps and environments in real-time. No age-long loading screens analyzing your track. It's instant. You can switch between your music on the fly.

The game is multiplayer and single player. You can get a demo here:
www.myxyla.com/games/rush-bros

If you up vote the game on steam, Ian has promised free DLC packs.

Please support Indie developers everywhere.

Twilight's Tower of Tribulations is a Game designed by me for the 'My little Gamejam' competition.
The game is based around old-school nes games such as megaman with it's single-screen gameplay and difficulty. In the game you play as Twilight, after receiving a letter from Princess Celestia to stop discord and find the 5 gems of peace. You venture out into 3 worlds, Equestria, a evil base, and the Tower itself. Many obstacles will stop you along your way-- Spikes, Saws, and even clouds. Will you be able to stop Discord and save the day?

*Quick note: If the game boots up and has a save error, reset it (close and reboot). DO NOT play the game in the zip or this MAY happen. Extract the game to your desktop before playing.

You can download the game (and source) here:
games.mylittlegamejam.com/game…
(h.t.t.p://ga.mes.mylit.tlegame.jam.co.m/ga.me/sh.ow/2.6)
Vote on it please.

As a heads up, I recommend playing this with the D-pad and buttons on a Xbox360 controller. Use a program like Joy2Key and pair up the buttons and the game will feel 20% more nostalgic.

Videogames as a genre have been moving back. I am seeing this everywhere.

Look at this:
Arcade > Platform > Fighting > Racing > FPS > 3D < FPS < Racing < Fighting < Platform < Arcade.

The peak hit near 2003-2007 with 3D adventure games, and now the genre is moving back again. FPS games are starting to die and won't be as common in the following years, and there will be more Racing or Fighting games.

We are currently in between the FPS / Fighting time. When FPS and fighter games begin to die, platforming will take over again. Get it?

What I'm saying here is plan when to release your games, and know where the flow is moving.

In the media, we are going into the Racing / Fighting Era.
In the indie side, we have pushed into the Platformer / Arcade Era.

What indies and the media need to do to succeed is remember this line. History likes to repeat it's self. It goes forward then bounces back. It's the same with everything.

Ok, I'm getting into 3D game development.
What engines should I use? I hear Unity is good...
I need to make a 3D metala gear solid 1 clone, MLP-ified.
Why? Well why not! It wasn't my idea anyway...
Whatever. Anyone know of anygood 3D enigines and what I should start with?
I'm familiar with game maker in 2d dev, if that helps.

Also...
I must restate this:
Hey guys! whats up?
I was wondering, can somepony do a frame by frame animation of Nightmare Moon popping out a hole (black, cartoony) and looking left and right then going back in?
I need this to complete a bossfight in the game I'm making, Pony Pinball (Sonic Spinball Style)
I've copied this message in my personal comment thingy so all can see. Thanks for reading!
