Hey there, guys!
So, I got selected to participate in voting for this month's top 10 on Newgrounds.
There was a lot of good stuff this month, but these are what ended up being my picks:

1st - "Makeshift Satellite" by codywalzel
2nd - "-Bliss-" by RoastedStix
3rd - "Jojo's Hot Dog Adventure" by Zikpotimus
4th - "Not In My Version of America" by Sweetsweetback
5th - "The Anatomical Bust" by Parimak
6th - "We Watched Fireworks" by Dylan
7th - "Death Row Dog" by Turbo-Assassin
8th - "Hey That's Offensive!" by Cheetoh
9th - "Sonic Watched Some TV" by Motament
10th - "Convergence at Gravity Falls!" by Doodley

You guys should all check out these animations, they're pretty rad.
Well, I usually don't do fanart, just because I really enjoy doing original stuff... but after how much, and how quick of a response my Rick & Morty drawing got, I feel like maybe I should try doing more fan art.
No worries for anybody who enjoys my original work, I'll still go back to that, as well. I just feel like for now, if Fan Art is what you guys want to see, then fan art is what you guys are gonna get! :D

Let me know in the comments about what series, or even what characters you'd want me to draw fan art of, and I'll be sure to consider it. :)
For now...
Hey, have any of you ever wanted to commission me for some work?
Well, now I've given you some options!

Here's a basic rundown of what's currently available:

Basic Cartoon Portrait - Line Art - 320 Points ($4.00 USD)

Smiling Cartoon Dude by Vigorousjammer  Cartoon Punk Rock Girl by Vigorousjammer
I will create the line art for a simple cartoon portrait (which is from the shoulders & above).
You can determine what kind of expression you want, as well as any other basic details. This can be a portrait of yourself, or a portrait of an original character.

Once I've completed the commission, you will receive a high resolution PNG image with a white background, a high resolution PNG with a transparent background, as well as a PSD file.

Basic Cartoon Portrait - Colored - 560 Points ($7.00 USD)

Smiling Cartoon Dude - Colored by Vigorousjammer  Cartoon Punk Rock Girl - Colored by Vigorousjammer
I will create the line art for a simple cartoon portrait (which is from the shoulders & above). I will then color it, and add in some basic flat-shading (if you desire).
You can determine what kind of expression you want, as well as any other basic details. This can be a portrait of yourself, or a portrait of an original character.

Once I've completed the commission, you will receive a high resolution PNG image with a white background, a high resolution PNG with a transparent background, as well as a PSD file.

Full Body Character Drawing - Line Art - 800 Points  ($10.00 USD)

Roxie, Linework by Vigorousjammer  A Mutant Punk Rock Chick - Line Art by Vigorousjammer  A Gun for One Hand... - Line Art by Vigorousjammer
I will create line art for a full-body cartoon-style character.
You can determine the height of the character, what kind of expression you want on their face, the outfit, a simple pose, a basic prop, as well as any other basic details. This can be a drawing of yourself, or of an original character. For this specific commission I will only do characters that stand on two legs. Any character that has too much of an animal-like posture is no good for this commission. Don't let that stop you from getting weird, though. I tend to excel at drawing weird stuff.
You also have the option for me to add in a comic-style speech bubble at no additional cost.

Full Body Character Drawing - Colored - 1200 Points  ($15.00 USD)

I will create a full-body cartoon-style character, color it, as well as shade it (if you desire).

Weird & Random - 40 Points  ($0.50 USD)

Here's a fun little thing that just about anybody can participate in! :D (Big Grin)

You give me about 2-4 words, and I'll turn it into a random weird drawing! Fully colored and everything!
You might not have much control over the full product... however, the best part about this is the price.

Rules for My Commissions:

  1. Please be clear and concise when describing your commission. This will avoid headaches later on. Example images are welcome. :)
  2. When you commission me, be aware that I won't do infinite adjustments for a client, only one or two, possibly three... depending on how major the changes are. If I've made three changes and you're still not satisfied with my work, I have to wonder if you'd ever be satisfied with it.
  3. For all commissions, I grant you a non-exclusive commercial licence. Basically, that means you are able to use it anywhere you like, modify it however you like, as well as in a commercial context. However... I, as the artist, also retain my right to use it, modify it, and share it however I like as well.
  4. I have no problem drawing mature content. Blood & gore, nudity, sexual content, other gross & disgusting bullshit. However, please be aware that I don't have much experience with that kind of stuff, so it may not come out very great.

That's about it! If all of this sounds acceptable to you, please check out my commissions page [here] or the commission box on my main profile [here], and place a commission! You'll be glad you did! :icongrin-plz:
...something else?

Well, it's been a little over 2 months since I've started doing my "Daily Doodles" feature, and I just do not have the willpower to keep doing a doodle every single day. I do think I've produced some really great stuff, and this feature has helped motivate me to do more artwork. However, there are days where I feel unmotivated, and I just end up doing something quick, and shitty... just to get something out. That's probably not the best way to go about doing this.
Of course, I will still try to do a doodle whenever I get a good idea for one, but I will stop doing them every day, so it doesn't make sense to call them "Daily Doodles" anymore.
I haven't come up with a good replacement name yet. If you have any name suggestions, be sure to post them in the comments below.

Now, I feel this is probably an appropriate place to post the thumbnails for all 66 of the Daily Doodles I've done so far.

Sooooo, here we go!

Hey there guys. So, for a lot of my artwork I like to take my time & make it look good. However, this also means that I don't upload too frequently, so there's usually a pretty large gap between my submissions. While I think being a perfectionist can be a good thing sometimes, I also think there's great value in being able to work fast, which I tend to usually not be too good at.

That's why I want to start doing a random quick drawing every day, which I will then upload, daily. I already did the first one today, and you can see it below:
Random Snakey, Wormy, Ooze-like Thing in a Top Hat by Vigorousjammer

That drawing of a weird-looking snake-like thing only took me about a minute to draw, which I think is pretty good, considering the results. While it's not great... it's still pretty simple & fun, and that's what you can be expected to see out of these daily drawings of mine. I feel like if I do enough of these drawings, it will also help me get faster when doing any other type of drawing, which could be SUPER helpful.

I'll start off just doing whatever pops into my head, but if anybody would like to give me some suggestions, either comment below, send them to my note inbox, or post them in the main comments section on my page. I'm not promising I'll do every suggestion, but if I see a suggestion I like, I'll be more than happy to draw it... as quickly as possible.

Hope you guys are excited as I am for this new feature! :D
So, I'm considering trying to get into drawing sketches and selling them on Ebay.
My plan is to make one-of-a-kind pencil sketches, frame them, and put them up for sale.

I wouldn't scan them in or anything like that, so the only way there could ever be prints made is if that person decided they wanted to scan it in and make some.
I personally think this would add some value to the sketches, but I'm not sure if people would actually buy them or not.

The sketches could be anything from famous people, to original works, and styles would range from realistic to abstract to cartoony.

Is this a good idea?
Would you buy something like this?
Have you bought something like this in the past?
Also, I'm wondering if Ebay would be the best place to sell something like that.
If anybody has any suggestions for a better website to list something like this, let me know.

Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments, as well.
Found this in another journal and really like the idea  Spread more pictures!

A. For each of the 20 first people answering this journal, I will put their avatar and the three deviations I like most from their gallery on the list
B. If you answer, you have to re-post it in your journal, putting the person you got it from in the first place.

The idea of this is not to get a free feature, it is to spread people's art around for everyone!

So... basically, I tried uploading an swf with it, got an error around 85%, tried uploading a png with it, got an error around 85%...

why... WHY OH WHY are there just a bunch of random errors any time I try to upload something? :iconwhywouldyoudothatplz:

They need to either change it back, let us have the old one as an option, or just get this new one working properly.

I honestly don't mind the new look, it's just the fact that it works like complete SHIT that bothers me. Actually, it doesn't really work at all...
Hey there everybody!

You may have read in one of my previous journals about a series that I've been working on, and you may have also seen some character designs for it in my gallery.  A little something known only as "Project Atom".  Well, Initially it was conceived as an animated series, but I'm re-tooling it and turning it into a comic book.

Recently, I've come across an excellent website, Ka-Blam Digital printing, which you can find at www.ka-blam.com
Much like Redbubble, they offer on-demand printing of comics for users.  They have templates so you know exactly the dimensions, the margins, and the bleed that you should account for, as well as an optional advertisement for their website which will lower the cost of each printing if you so choose to include it in your book.  On the consumer side, they simply order your comic, and it gets printed and shipped, or they can also order it digitally, which is offered at a cheaper price.

Anyway, back to the comic, I'll be creating it mostly in Illustrator, however I may do some of the coloring in Paint Tool SAI (despite the lack of vector graphics).  It's going to follow roughly the same format as the animated series was going to. That is, it's going to be set in a post-apocalyptic world, but rather than have a very serious tone, it'll be more of a comedy series.

Be sure to check out my gallery in the coming weeks, or just add me to your watch list if you're interested, as I'll be uploading some designs and preview material for the comic.
Now that Youtube has Live Streaming, there's a few ideas I was thinking about for different live streaming shows...

Probably the most interesting idea I have would require some sort of fan-base, though, and would require a chatroom. I have no clue if Youtube live streams have chatrooms or not, so that could be a problem.

Basically, I would tell people to throw out ideas from the chat for a single panel in a storyboard. Then people would watch me quickly sketch that one out... then people would throw in some ideas for the next part of the storyboard, and I'd sketch that out. Once I have a long enough storyboard, I'd end the stream and while I'm offline I'd take my time and turn it into something fully animated. (Note: I'd probably try and keep all of these under 1 minute, unless popular demand got crazy for them to be longer)

Then, on the next live stream, I'd start it off by premiering last week's animation, and then move on to taking ideas from the chat for a new one. This is good because it gets people coming back to watch the stream live, so I can have people in the chatroom to give me ideas... of course, I'd also post the video on my Youtube as a standalone thing afterwards.

What do you guys think? Cool idea?
Got a couple of animations in the pipeline, planning to do more and more of it in the coming months.

I've got a few ideas, currently working on one with a cowboy. I've got some others in mind including a humorous one with some cops.

To whet your appetite, here's a preview screenshot of the Cowboy animation:

Apparently holding the tablet & drawing is not a good idea...

Before a couple weeks ago, I'd attempt to hold the tablet in my left hand, maybe rest it in my lap, and try to draw with my right hand.  Well, yeah, as you could have probably guessed from my previous journal entry, this caused a lot of frustration, and things didn't go very well.  Then I got the genius idea to set it down on a table!  Holy shit!  So revolutionary, I know!  Now, I'm drawing just as good as I could using a mouse, and also getting better with it.

Still, I'm keeping an eye on the Wacom Cintiq, but it's now more just out of desire than necessity.
I've been experimenting on and off for a little while trying to make use of my Wacom Bamboo tablet, and I have no clue how to use it effectively.

The major problem I have with it is that hovering a pen over the surface is an annoying way to move your cursor around, thus making it harder to select different tools, or to simply position where I'm going to start a stroke.  Thus it's making me want to toss it and stick to animating with a mouse.

However, I draw so much better on paper than with a mouse, which made me think of just drawing some stuff, putting it on my tablet and tracing it from there.  The problem with this however, is that it only serves one of my purposes. I'm looking to use this tablet mostly for animation, and having to draw each frame of animation on paper before tracing it digitally... sounds annoying, to say the least.  I'm sure it'd be fine for static backgrounds, but for characters, unthinkable!

I've searched Google for help, but have only come across people telling others "learn how to draw, and it'll come naturally"
It's really bullshit, too... because drawing on a tablet is a much different skill-set than drawing on paper.

So, does anybody have any tips on how to properly use a Wacom tablet?

Hey everybody, remember that animated series I was talking about from my last blog post? well, I'm officially revealing some stuff about it.

Currently, I don't have a definitive name, I've been calling it "Project Atom"

The show is set after the apocalypse, but it doesn't have that much of a serious tone.  I'm going for a comedy series, but also with some action beats here & there.

So far I've got the script for the first episode down, I've got some voice actors lined up (including myself) and currently I'll be doing all of the character art.

Here's some character designs to whet your appetite:
- Marko -
- Seymour -
- Roxie -

If there's any talented artists who'd like to help with the series, I'd be very grateful.  I'm especially looking for background artists.

Let me know what you guys think about this idea, get hyped!
So, I'm working on a new project.  For the sake of surprising you all later, I can't tell you much, but it will be an animated series.
...since my last journal entry ...and I haven't really done much of anything.

I posted a new deviation around V-day...

I bought Super Smash Bros. Brawl...
as well as Army of Two, CoD4, and some other stuff for my DS...

I bought an old plastic grey gameboy off of eBay and it doesn't work... looks like the batteries exploded inside of it, and the inside is all corroded...

I should try bidding on a different one soon... I actually saw one that looked in pretty good condition... so hopefully that will work...

in other news: I posted up a new video blog kinda thing... for anybody who follows my exploits there...
it isn't exactly a full video blog... but it's something like that...

i'll probobly try to make one every month... but who knows how that'll turn out...
