Deinonychus speedpaint by Viergacht Deinonychus speedpaint by Viergacht
I made this for Draw a Bird Day . . . . Deinonychus counts as a bird, right?  Okay, probably not, but I felt like painting a dinosaur. I like these dudes, we're both from Maryland.

The coloring and shading is lovely, and one of my favorite parts definitely has to be the eyes. They stand out with their color, and how shiny they appear. I think his feathers look really nice, as well!

No problem. Many of your pieces I find to be really, really quite good as well.

Dromaeosaurs had bird-like feathers, not protofeathers.

It's a speedpaint. That's not fuzz, it's just undetailed feathers.

Counts as a bird in my book!  Another beautiful piece...There's something about the pose and lighting here, and that delicate subtlety to the handling of the little details like the "lips" and eyelids, that reminds me of Schouten.

Gorgeous posing and palette. Deinonychus was an incredible creature by all accounts, and you made it appear so believably curious and alive. Thank you!

You got this guy from that Dino Documentary :D Man I miss that show, the only known related documentary is 'White-Tips Journey', wish those were still around!

Great job on the art, very epic! Love the eyes!

It'd be cool if they make a movie version of "Raptor Red", that would be amazing.

It would be! Sadly right now they've already finished Jurassic World so I doubt anyone will do any more dinosaur movies

A marvellously unconventional angle. And the good ol' Burnsides-style muttonchops are killer.

Heh, yeah, the muttonchops weren't planned, they just sort of showed up as I painted, and I kept them because I thought they looked cute.
