Deviation Actions
I just had a whole bunch of takedowns by Deviant Art. I am contacting them to figure out what I did wrong. This might affect other videos and what I do in the future.
It is also a reminder to many of you who push for more daring or explicit content. Just not going to happen. What I already do is likely already on the edge. I can definitely not go any further.
What gives many of you the wrong idea is that there are lots of accounts here on Deviant Art, that are going far over the edge in what is actually allowed by their rules. It is just that they have not been reported yet. Typically that is because they are smaller accounts. I got over 20k followers now and that means you will get scrutinized a lot more.
Stuff others could probably leave up for a year without reaction, I'd get pulled down within a day. This is also advice to other creators who are not yet that big. You may think a lot of what you post is okay because you gotten no reaction.
But once you get discovered, you could face lots of images or videos taken down. So it is better to play it safe from the beginning IMHO. Read the Deviant Art guidelines, rather than just look at what others have gotten away with.
And I can remind you that I do have my own site Vieregg's World , partially as a backup solution in case Deviant Art gets very restrictive, but also simply a site with a different focus. Vieregg's World centers more on world building and present images often in a different way. I do more infrequent posts there, but rather than individual images they are small galleries based on a theme or many images are simply within stories, histories and background material I write.
The subscription setup is also a bit different for Vieregg's World. It has full history unlike here on Deviant Art which has only 1 month back from when you start subscribing. That is partly because my history here on DA is so much longer. I couldn't give away access to thousands of images for a couple of dollars.
Hence for new subscribers Vieregg's World might have more content than DA. But I do more frequent updates on DA as this is still my main platform. Vieregg's World is more bulk update.
At the moment I don't host videos on Vieregg's World but I am considering doing it. Thus far DA restrictions have seemed fine to me, but maybe I was wrong. We'll see.
