The legend says that in one of these “bad art days” I attempted to paint Sabetha, from Gentlemen Bastards book series, but f*cked up so badly she ended looking like a Disney princess. Dang. So… let’s just pretend it didn’t happen and I’ll try again later, preferentially after I’m done reading The Republic of Thieves.

A lenda diz que que em um desses “dias ruins para arte” tentei pintar Sabetha, da série de livros Gentlemen Bastards (Cavalheiros Bastardos?), mas f*di tão espetacularmente que ela acabou saindo como uma princesa da Disney. Praga. Então… vamos fingir que isso jamais aconteceu e tentarei novamente mais tarde, de preferência após acabar de ler The Republic of Thieves.

You think you messed this up? God, I should go hide under a bridge then!
The thing I lov about this one is the atmosphere, she's so mystical and pretty at the same time :)
Do  you recommend the books? And what are they about? I'm looking for a new series of books but I don't know which one I should read.

I'm happy with the look, even the mood, but I missed the character for miles. I look at it and it doesn't ring "Sabetha", you know? I reckon I'm still happy that I managed to bring so many things to my comfort zone that I'm able to finish an artwork I like even if I started it badly—as I did in this one—and got something wrong—the character "feel".
__
About the books:  I personally loved The Lies of Locke Lamora. It's on my top books list. Scott Lynch so skilled he can write dark passages and still make the book a delightful reading. I also like his humor; since you're familiar to The Name of the Wind I'm comparing it to this quote: “I also felt guilty about the three pens I'd stolen, but only for a second. And since there was no convenient way to give them back, I stole a bottle of ink before I left.”

Speaking of Name of the Wind, you might also want to take Patrick Rothfuss' opinion of Lies into account. When he wrote his own book he often got compared to Scott Lynch, to the point he started to get irked by it. So he avoided the books, and years later he finally read it. His verdict: He's crazy about it.

Here is the synopsis of the first one, The Lies of Locke Lamora:

An orphan's life is harsh — and often short — in the island city of Camorr, built on the ruins of a mysterious alien race. But born with a quick wit and a gift for thieving, Locke Lamora has dodged both death and slavery, only to fall into the hands of an eyeless priest known as Chains — a man who is neither blind nor a priest.

A con artist of extraordinary talent, Chains passes his skills on to his carefully selected "family" of orphans — a group known as the Gentlemen Bastards. Under his tutelage, Locke grows to lead the Bastards, delightedly pulling off one outrageous confidence game after another. Soon he is infamous as the Thorn of Camorr, and no wealthy noble is safe from his sting.

Passing themselves off as petty thieves, the brilliant Locke and his tightly knit band of light-fingered brothers have fooled even the criminal underworld's most feared ruler, Capa Barsavi. But there is someone in the shadows more powerful — and more ambitious — than Locke has yet imagined.

Known as the Gray King, he is slowly killing Capa Barsavi's most trusted men — and using Locke as a pawn in his plot to take control of Camorr's underworld. With a bloody coup under way threatening to destroy everyone and everything that holds meaning in his mercenary life, Locke vows to beat the Gray King at his own brutal game — or die trying...

Just a warning: The books are full of cussing. Understandable, since it's about thieves, but if it makes you uncomfortable you should know it beforehand.

Yes, I know what you mean, it happens all the time to me, haha, but I'm glad that you could "fix" it in the end :)
Thanks for all the info about the books, I will see if they are in Spanish and give them a try. I'd love to talk with about the books once I've read them! :D
And thanks for the warning, thankfully I don't get shocked when I hear/read cussings :p

Mm, Sabetha. One of the first pieces of Sabetha I've seen, and you've done a damn fine job! Love it! Absolutely love it!
Republic of Thieves is a wonderful book, the Gentleman Bastards series is my favourite book series of all time. Can't wait until The Thorn of Emberlain is released, so excited.

Thank you so much!

I'm half making Republic of Thieves last, half crashing at bed at night instead of reading another chapter. I know there is no way the book lasts until Thorn comes out, but one can hope, right? ;x
I only know that The Lies of Locke Lamora blew my mind, it's one of my all-time favourites books. I had been hopelessly looking for a good book to read, and after being let down by three or four books in a row to find Lies was like stumbling on a lake of ice cold water in the middle of a desert.

I know exactly what you mean. Lies of Locke Lamora was a wonderfully presented book, each book is just so damn addictive. I made myself read them only when I was at work and on my break (30 minutes usually) so I managed to make them last quite a while. Sadly, I've stilled finished them. ;-;

I love and hate The Gentleman Bastard series to some degree. Love them because they're so amazing, but I hate them because I can't read any other series without comparing them and finding them lacking. x3 Still, September time! That's when Thorn of Emberlain is supposed to come out. So excited.

Also, I love the second piece of Sabetha you've done! They're both gorgeous! :3
