My new journal

Hello Deviants, it is my pleasure to meet you.

I am a beginner artist transitioning from Digital to Traditional watercolour painting.

In the past I have only dabbled in art, digital art, on my iPad with Procreate, and a little on my laptop, mainly with Inkscape. I do enjoy it but I have always wanted to try my hand at watercolour and recently decided to give it a try. I have always been a little intimidated by actually, in the hands on sense, mixing colour, setting up a canvas, and actually using a brush, god forbid lol..

So in the new year I decided, now is the time old chap, to break free from what you are comfortable with and start a new adventure.

I have started by mainly following along with video tutorials on YouTube and by getting used to mixing the primary colours to create the shades I need.

Thus far I have only created 2 paintings I am happy with but even my failures have taught me a great deal.
I joined DeviantArt in order to meet new people, join watercolour groups, and to be inspired by others works, and also to improve my own skills as I go.

Of particular interest in terms of painting subject is that of a nautical flavour. Sea scapes, boats and especially sailing boats and ships. I am concentrating my efforts at this early stage on these themes as they tie in with my love of nautical literature.

I am also very fond of plants.. house plants, garden plants and wild plants. I only started collecting plants for my home last year and have already acquired a substantial early collection that seems to grow every week. I will try and post some images on my profile for those keen botanists among you :)
