Indian Monarch

This addition to my cultural butterfly set has been sitting in my sketch pile for nearly a year and partially finished in Flash for about half that long. The spots on the wings were all originally hand-drawn patterns based on common themes found in mehndi designs, and I chose the colors to reflect the henna used in the artwork and the brightly colored saris worn by many Indian women.

Butterfly created completely in Flash using the line, fill, and brush tools. Photoshop used only to add the copyright information.
