A couple of weeks ago, while having a discussion on what made something paisley or not, an idea struck for a new set of designs that just hit that excitement button. This was one of the results.

Meet Chrissy :)

"As you look through the paisley shaped window of this purple enclosure, you can watch the cute paisley hedgehog, Chrysanthemum or Chrissy to her friends, make her way across her home. Whether she’s looking for food or a nap, she’s sure to find what she needs, without waking you up in the middle of the night with her running wheel."

This is adorable. I often think about what makes a paisley too and other 'real life' objects that would be interesting when they're paisley-fied.

Thank you. :)

It's definitely a neat mental exercise, though some objects can really present a challenge.

Lovely design

As for whether paisley or not? I usually go by the leaf shape for paisley but don`t think there are that many rules - I just draw whatever I feel like...

Thank you and thank you for the faves and club requests. :D

I also tend to use the more leaf-like shape with the shorter tip, but that's more of a personal preference. Of course some designs just _need_ the longer and even rounded ends, so it's kind of on a piece by piece basis.

As for the original "paisley or not" discussion. It started more with the question of whether paisley was the complex, repeated design that involves lots of highly detailed leaf-like elements (like on a paisley tie) or whether the individual leaf-like elements could be called a paisley by themselves. Final consensus was both. :)

Thank you for the invite / heads-up. Unfortunately I'm a bit behind on several tasks and projects at the moment, so I'm not sure that I'd be able to get something created in time (or have the time to be a good member. I'm already slacking more than I'd like in the few that I'm a member of.) Best of luck with the contest and the group in general. I will definitely keep it in mind for when I have things more caught up. :)
