Mass For The Dead by vhaidra Mass For The Dead by vhaidra
Self-explanatory.

I love this, granted, I can't read Latin, but still.

It actually isn't anything particular to me... I found the book, actually, and it's just sitting on my book shelf next to various novels and non-fiction goods.

I'm glad you liked it. And don't worry, until a few people commented on it, I had no idea what it meant either... but I think the title was self-explanatory enough that I didn't need to delve any further to figure it out. And thank you, by the way, for the favourite :)

Allow me to translate the Introit (which means Entrance verse), it translates as "Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them, A hymn becometh thee, O God, in Zion, and unto thee a vow shall be repaid in Jerusalem. Hear my prayer; unto thee all flesh shall come. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them." I attend and serve the Traditional Latin Mass, so I am very familiar with the words.

It's the opening part (hence the word "Introit") of the catholic Requiem Mass (known formally in Latin as the Missa pro defunctis or Missa defunctorum)
It reads: Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Te decet hymnus Deus, in Sion, et tibi reddetur votum in Ierusalem. Exaudi orationem meam; ad te omnis caro veniet.

Which translates to: "Grant them eternal rest, O Lord, and may everlasting light shine upon them. A hymn becometh thee, O God, in Zion, and unto thee a vow shall be repaid in Jerusalem. Hear my prayer; unto thee all flesh shall come."

Well, thank you. That's good to know :)

I really like your signature, also. But I'm in the middle somewhere...I'm a dreamer and a cynic :)

It's not a question of which world you live in, it's a question of which world you want to live in and work towards getting there.

I frequently find myself stuck between worlds, not wanting to be in one and knowing too much to be in the other.

Some times I think a lobotomy would do me good, still I guess it depends on how you choose to look at it.

Oooh yes, superpowers, I think though that electrocution would be the best bet for getting superpowers, not too many radioactive spiders around here or quacks for that matter, I know a few doctors but they are all excellent ones. Excuse me while I go stick metal objects in the toaster

Do let me know how that goes. Although, even if you are successful, I probably won't follow in your footsteps... I'm afraid of electrocution. I shocked myself once in between my toes...I've been afraid of outlets ever since :)

No I won't let you know how that goes, YOU MIGHT BE A SPY FOR DR. SIVANA

Shocking story about the outlets though, cheap puns aside; are you sure you don't have any superpowers?

I'm loving the perspective here, it holds so much visual appeal to me. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it just somehow makes it seem so, powerful? I think that's the word I'm looking for. Fabulous work, quite enthralling really.

Yeah, I can't imagine a mass for the dead would be anything less than creepy. Thank you, love.

If it makes you feel any better, I took French for about a week and I only know how to say Hello, Goodbye and Eiffel Tower.

I never took french and I know more than that.. but yeah.. knowing one sentence over 3 years doesn't compare with knowing 4 words in 1 week. And the sentence is only 3 words lol.
